Americans Who Identify as Conservative Steadily Declining in 2020

A Gallup poll released Monday found that 34% of people in the U.S. identified as conservative in May and June. That's compared to 40% who identified as conservative in January, which was a tie for the highest percentage Gallup has recorded in the past six years.

While there has been a decline in conservatism, there's been a corresponding increase in Americans who describe themselves as liberal.

A separate Gallup poll earlier this month found that 50% of Americans identify as Democrat or lean Democratic and 39% identify as Republican or lean Republican.
