Jaime Harrison: This is a 2-point race. In South Carolina.

This is a 2-point race. In South Carolina.

When I told folks I was running against @LindseyGrahamSC they laughed.

I knew better, and today's new poll just shows what I've felt on the ground for months: S.C. is ready for change. ✨

I saw this with Obama as well. There was a ground swell, you could feel it. I did. I knew he was going to win.

Please proceed Mr Hamilton.

the other thing you must do is help people to get to the polls on election day. IF I were still there, I'd try to set up a ride service that people could call to get a ride to their polling place. I don't know where SC is on mail in voting or absentee voting, but if that's possible that would be good to promote too.

There are a lot of Repubs in SC & the only way to win is to outnumber them with voters!

I grew up a Southern Baptist. But am now a free thinker. Most Southerns, including, I remind everyone on DU, southern African Americans are very religious. I respect their beliefs.

MLK won because be framed his argument as a moral imperative and used the language religious Americans understood. Because of course, he was a Christian minister. When I hear his speech in front of the Lincoln memorial I hear the preachers of my childhood challenging me to become a better person.

I see a photo of a Black Christian addressing a group of white Christians on their territory. Taking it to the opposition not the enemy. That is how we win.

He is speaking a language they understand and it may be a twist on their religion they have not heard lately. Like, the words of Jesus. Not those of Paul or their own preachers.

When the racist killed those church members in SC it moved even the republicans to support removing the confederate flag from the state house.

There is lots of typing on DU about a 50 state strategy. That means appealing to every state as they stand. That means supporting candidates you might not support in your state.

I just don’t think many of the members of DU live In places like I do. Democrats can win here. But they will not be the same type of democrats that win in the pacific northeast, north east or California. And they will be religious, which I am not. But Joe Biden is religious. As are most Americans.

One of the things we forget at our peril was that MLK was first of all a preacher. A man of god. Which I don’t really believe in. But the early Abolitionist were driven only by their faith.

Every Democrat I know is religious. I’m the exception. But they don’t expect the government to enforce their beliefs. That the biggest difference between religious democrats and republicans. Ok. Maybe not the biggest difference, but a big one.
