Trump is destroying something even world wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards, civil war,

recessions, depressions and a long list of corrupt or incompetent politicians couldn't destroy - The United States Postal Service. Establishing the US Postal Service was one of the first priorities of our Founding Fathers 240 years ago, and Trump has given a wrecking ball to his new criminal Postmaster with orders to obliterate it.

Our Dems in the House need to start raising hell about this NOW!

Sorry about the rant, but I'm still livid after watching that segment about it on Chris Hayes tonight.

Problems with Post Office, EPA, DOJ, etc, etc, nothing will get by McTurtle that he doesn't want to deal with.
We really need to take the Senate over Nov 3rd so Joe will have a congress that'll work with him instead of
against him like Moscow mitch does with any Democrat.

"One Billionaire vs. the Mail...
A new report details Charles Koch’s 50-year war on the U.S. Postal Service."

"For 50 years, multibillionaire Charles Koch has nudged Washington toward his dream of privatizing the United States Postal Service. A new study from True North Research shows how the coronavirus crisis may present an opportunity for Koch to finish the job that he started in 1970, putting 500,000 jobs at risk and risking the efficacy of the 2020 election."

“He’s on the precipice of achieving his long-standing objectives of privatizing the Postal Service that hundreds of millions of Americans rely on every day,” says Lisa Graves, the author of the new study. “His position remains an outlier position with the American people, but it’s gained currency in the Republican Party.”

They passed the law that the post office was to fund their pension liabilities to 75 years out. That meant repairs, raises, equipment upgrade and such were neglected or delayed. The result is trucks breaking down and even catching fire. (Newark Star-Ledger last week had an article about one of the mini trucks catching fire. It seems that trucks on fire is becoming a common occurrence. These trucks were built and purchased in the late 80's and early 90's.

They are still on the road.

My daughter was driving one in 2019. The fukin' axle broke and the wheel came off the axle.

Republican Presidents from Reagan on have appointed Postmaster Generals who have worked to wreck the Postal Service.

Over 600,000 people work there (and work hard) in good paying Union jobs with benefits. They are also Equal Opportunity employers who offer good jobs for women and minorities and disabled. And veterans get hiring preference.

Republicans hate that shit.

The Constitution of the United States requires Congress to establish post roads and services.
Point blank, flat out, and no argument.

If Charles wants that to be different, he had better be willing to sink his fortune into an Amendment, or he can go fuck himself.

Point blank, flat out, and no argument.

.even the Robert's court would defend this to their last breath.

Is the most dangerous person the USA who doesn't work in the White House or the government more generally.

The excellent podcast Behind the Bastards did a really great two part episode about how shitty Charles Koch is:

I got notification it had shipped UPS with tracking via USPS partner. It is stuck somewhere. Tracking says it is supposed to be at local PO but they say that is only electronic, they have not received it. USPS can't help. UPS can't. The seller, RedBubble, which is a place artists sell things, is not reachable. I've ordered from them before with no issues, but now ... maybe they're overwhelmed with mail that is crazy late.

It has been 5 weeks since it was shipped, and it was supposed to be delivered the first week of this month.

At my local PO, they said they're seeing things delayed a couple of weeks (from Macy's they claim is one of the worst), but this is the first they've seen delayed a month.

The election is Aug. 4, and if mail delivery is slow, I want to give it a full week to get there.

And I hope I'll still be able to vote by mail next time, in November. Although if the only way I can vote then is by going to the polling place, I will do it. I will walk barefoot over broken glass and through a thick cloud of coronavirus droplets if I have to.

Yes, I watched Chris Hayes tonight, too. As I do every night.

Oh, and Mr. Dowd, how is your invisible rabbit friend Harvey getting along? I hope he's well.

Wonder what will be left that trump does NOT destroy by the time he leaves office.

They better nail the Resolute Desk to the floor. He's liable to walk out with it, just out of spite - if we DO vote him outta there. I hope someone's got a full inventory of all the antiques in the White House!
