3. Trump has been blocking the sale of the old FBI building across the street from his tacky hotel

They were going to sell the property where the current FBI building is to a developer - who would likely put up a snazzy new hotel that would compete with Trump. The FBI's new building would be out of DC and much less expensive than building a new facility on the existing property.

Trump wanted to include funding for the demolition and rebuild of a new FBI facility on the existing property. Thereby staving off another competitor. For now and into the future.
