BUT - every year there are a number of graduates at the law school where I teach who do not sit for the bar exam. And one recently went into a sports-related career. Although there are a few who don't have a chance at passing the bar exam, some entered law school seeking - or are in - JD-advantage jobs (jobs where a JD, but not necessarily a license to practice law, give you a career/salary benefit. Some discover during law school that they really don't like the study of law, including some who have been pretty high up in the class. Some are University employees who get tuition free - and were taking law school classes for fun.

So - this is in defense of my many students who chose not to take the bar exam for reasons having nothing to do with competency.
