Vice President Mike Pence and members of his staff met Tuesday with some of the doctors who were featured in a video that was later removed from social media for misinformation, those doctors said on Wednesday.
The video, which was shared by President Donald Trump before being removed, featured members of the group America's Frontline Doctors standing on the steps of the Supreme Court claiming that masks aren't necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus and promoting hydroxychloroquine as a cure. Both claims are contradicted by scientific studies.
The most prominent person featured in the video, Stella Immanuel -- who has said in the past that DNA from space aliens is being used in medicine -- did not meet with Pence.
But several others who have actively promoted hydroxychloroquine and downplayed the virus did participate in the late afternoon meeting in the White House Roosevelt Room, as did the head of a conservative activist group who has helped amplify their message.

(11,996 posts)Dr. James Todaro
Dr. James Todaro may have a degree in medicine, but hes pretty far from the frontlines of the pandemic right now. In fact, he hasnt seen a patient since 2018, according to his own biographies online. Whats Mr. Todaro doing these days? Hes promoting bitcoin.
Jenny Beth Martin
Martin is the co-founder of an anti-tax group called the Tea Party Patriots Foundation and an alternate delegate to the Republican National Committee convention.
Dr. Stella Immanuel
Dr. Stella Immanuel is a doctor in Texas who has, lets say, unorthodox views on just about everything in life. Immanuel received her medical license as recently as November, according to the Washington Post, and believes in a conspiracy theory that world leaders are secretly lizards who are dressed up in human suits.
Dr. Simone Gold
Dr. Simone Gold is a doctor and lawyer in Los Angeles who publicly takes credit as the founder of Americas Frontline Doctors, a group whose website was set up 12 days ago, and {is gone now}..
Gold has been a regular on the right-wing media circuit during the pandemic, appearing on Fox News on May 21, arguing that patients are being harmed by the shutdowns taking place across the country.
Dr. Daniel W. Erickson
Dr. Erickson is an urgent care doctor in Bakersfield, California who has been touting many of the same ideas about the pandemic that President Trump has been spewing for the past few months.
Back in April, Erickson promoted the idea of herd immunity on local TV news in San Diego, pointing to Sweden** as a model. Erickson pointed to Kern County, California at the time, saying that the ICUs in the area had very few patients. Today, Kern County has 17,394 confirmed cases and 123 deaths. Cases in the county have increased by 161% in the past two weeks.
Sweden's approach to COVID has led to death, grief and suffering. The only example we're setting is how not to deal with a deadly infectious disease.

(22,156 posts)and rump obviously has some sort of a financial interest in hydroxychloroquine (HC) and continues to push it...despite being repeated studies (I think now there are 3 of them) that cast doubt on the benefits of HC on fighting the CV.
Again, this PINO hasn't released his tax returns (full of fraud), hasn't released any seriously completed financial stakes document or the like to effectively prevent the PINO from enriching himself or his family, or helping his buddies to enrich themselves, making sure that they give a 'finders fee' to the PINO. He's already scammed $170 million in campaign funds (I think its way more) into his own personal pockets.
Notice that (except for GOYA) he always pushes his businesses and no one else's (I may be wrong but it sure does seems like he's pushing only his stuff and no one else's).

(16,254 posts)I forget how many I read about, and he touted them for several weeks, then they were disqualified as to having any benefits but could cause heart problems.
That's probably why he's glomming onto any good news about HC.
I also seem to remember comments about the kids buying stock in the company. So much news, so little memory.

Take care!
