(4,919 posts)I once worked for a vile nasty woman who was extraordinarily abusive.
One day my coworker *perhaps co-victim* and I were waiting for our take out food and he said "if mean boss had a heart attack would you give her CPR? "
I said, "I don't know CPR " to which he replied, "well I do and I wouldn't "
Then he looked at the ground and at me and said "I guess I have to stop for confession on the way home."
That was 35 years ago.
I have since learned CPR and I wouldn't give it to her either, though I'm quite sure she is long dead.

(4,250 posts)and what a proud gorgeous woman she was. Ms. Walker spoke of the time her mother dressed in donated clothes to go to town for some free food for the family. That she waited in line, only to get to the front to have the woman distributing the food turn her away, refusing to give her the food she needed for her family, saying she was dressed too fine to need "hand-outs". Ms. Walker said she never forgot nor forgave that woman for humiliating her mother. She said she learned VooDoo and performed it on the now-deceased woman. Alice Walker said that she learned VooDoo (HooDoo) from reading Zora Neal Hurston
A little about Ms. Hurston from wikipedia.
Zora Neale Hurston (January 7, 1891[1]:17[2]:5 January 28, 1960) was an American author, anthropologist, and filmmaker. She portrayed racial struggles in the early-1900s American South and published research on hoodoo.[3] The most popular of her four novels is Their Eyes Were Watching God, published in 1937. She also wrote more than 50 short stories, plays, and essays.
Hurston was born in Notasulga, Alabama, and moved with her family to Eatonville, Florida, in 1894. She later used Eatonville as the setting for many of her stories. It is now the site of the "Zora! Festival", held each year in her honor.[4]

(3,282 posts)They both know fully well what the should be doing. I had nothing to do with Gohmert catching it or Barr deciding to get up in his grill before the hearing.
And considering how many people have died and how many could have been saved if either of these men and their friends were to have taken it seriously and not just played politics the whole time to protect Trump.... I can't really say that I have any concern for either of them.
Gohmert wants to send every kid in the country back to school in a few weeks without any precautions. That's going to lead to the deaths of 10s if not 100s of thousands of people in this country.
I don't have it in me to put out any faux-sympathy or concern on this one.

Do I want him to suffer - yes- he and other Repuglicans has made so many people suffer in so many ways even besides CV19 (feel flickers of guilt for that, too).
Maybe he'll be turned around

(46,166 posts)House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) called on three Republican committee members to wear face coverings during a hearing Tuesday with Attorney General William Barr.
I would remind Mr. Jordan, Mr. Biggs and Mr. Johnson to stop violating the rules of the committee, to stop violating the safety of the members of the committee, to stop holding themselves out as not caring by refusing to wear their masks, Nadler said, referring to Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Mike Johnson (R-La.).
A member was heard asking Nadler in response if it is permissible to drink a sip of coffee.
Nadler responded it is not permissible.
