Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will join the Washington-based Financial Services Roundtable as its new president and CEO, the bank lobbying firm announced Thursday. Pawlenty will step down as national co-chair of the Romney campaign, according to CNN.
The Financial Services Roundtable lobbies on behalf of large banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions. Pawlenty will begin his role on November 1, 2012.

Updated to add:
Romney's national co-chair is stepping down to be the head lobbyist for the financial services industry. He couldn't have waited six weeks?

(116,464 posts)Tim Pawlenty is a dear friend, said Mitt Romney. Hes brought energy, intelligence and tireless dedication to every enterprise in which hes ever been engaged, and that certainly includes my presidential campaign. While I regret he cannot continue as co-chair of my campaign, his new position advancing the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country. I congratulate him on his new position and wish him every success in carrying out his new mission.

(5,818 posts)to avoid an inevitable "F". On the student's transcript, it's as if the epic fail never happened.
Or, alternatively, it could be like the Italian captain who ran his ship aground and then became one of the first to jump into a lifeboat, and subsequently was prosecuted.
I tend to think Pawlenty's departure will be more like the student's withdrawal. Years from now, when Pawlenty is seeking another office, few will remember that he was Mitt's co-chair.

(14 posts)Pawlenty was a loser as a governor of the state or MN, a loser as candidate
for Pres (unbelievable), and a loser in general. Who cares what this liar
does - he is probably still crying over not being chosen as MitWit's ass-wipe

Get lost, Romney. You're unfit to lead this country.

(11,843 posts)So we also have lots of boats and we know that the water is still pretty warm, considering. So if the options are to jump in the lake now, or go down with the ship in the Gales of November, the choice is pretty clear. I'm not saying Timmy was ever a bright lad, but he now appears to the smartest rat on the SS Romney....

(8,200 posts)Money is what defines them. That is why Romney equates it with nobility. They see nothing noble about a working mom supporting her children or a man laboring at a dangerous and dirty job. No, those low class vermin are freeloading parasites.
