As it draws closer, who do YOU think he will pick?

I'm thinking it will not be Harris.

I think Karen Bass is coming on strong. She is experienced. She is tough, but with a soft and likable persona. She knows what the word campaign means. CBC Chair enhances her cred. Only downside (and a small one at that) is she is not currently married.

All just gut feeling and rank speculation. I have zero real knowledge of who it is.

Who do you think it will be.

I hang with mostly 20 somethings. I like Warren because firstly, I think her strength is really in play here and is so needed for this nation, and will fill the void with Biden and what I perceive as his weak area. She is smart, one of the smartest. Gets things done, does the work and persists. I think she will compliment Biden well and he will do what he is so very strong in, uniting the nation, and she will address those of us that really need progressives to step up.

I think she will bring an incredible energy into our youth. Our young voters, especially the educated ones, and college campus. She was a college professor after all and knows how to talk to the 20'somethings and they like their professors that look them in the eye and listen to them, encouraging their brilliance.

She is respectful to the other Dems, very encouraging and uplifting.

I like what she did with her primary run in being told she did not hear women of color voice and she said, teach me. And put in the time and effort and listened, processed and learned. So many of our candidates listen, learn and grow. Biden is one. She gained a lot of appreciation I think and is in good standing with the black community and they have said as such. But, what I really liked about the primary was once Harris and Booker got out, Warren was right there still talking about Black Lives Matter consistently, easily, righteously and often. And she was mostly the only talking about the systematic racism at the time. I liked that.

Looking at it from a perspective of hire for a specific job, I think it is hers. And I think Harris will not shine there. So many of her strengths are Biden strengths. Character and personality. I do not think Harris will shine and thinks she should be afforded the same opportunity to have a position in power that will allow her success. I think that is Sec of State. Warren doesn't have to run for President if she accomplishes what she needs to for progressives these four years. And with Democratic power, that is when we will be able to do it and she already has the friggin' plans.

Harris doing a visual and power job in Sec of State will have her in a position if she wants to run in 24. VP is not the only way to make the run.

Otherwise, I like every other woman on the list and would be thrilled to see her in VP position.

slot for President. That is very unnecessarily restrictive. As I say, we can easily put Harris in Sec of State put her in a position to shine and promote a pres run. Otherwise, what does it matter.

Whoever it is has to be able to take up the reigns. Why would we waste the opportunity to have someone waiting in the wings? If we had to go with someone else for the next presidential run that's fine but we should have a VP that is groomed and ready to take over.

The Democrats are smart enough to know if this would be an issue and if it were an issue then there is no way Warren would even be on the list. It is said that the Gov has to appoint a Dem. I do not know the ends and out, but you can damn well bet Biden and the Democrats has this handled.

I love Warren....voted for her even when it was a lost cause in WA state, but I really want to see someone younger (I am 64 so I get age discrimination and also get you ain't as sharp at 70 as you [or the country] may want if the s**t hits the fan and you are Prez or VP). Some say the vP should not be competition and I tend to agree but Joe needs someone with a sharp tongue and sharper claws BUT is a team player. I think he and she can make nice publicly and assuage an injured country and our international relationships, I don't see him doing much heavy political lifting anymore (although anything is better than what we got). I, and I think Joe, will understand a younger person is looking for more in the future and I don't see his interests necessarily precluding that. If you look at Lincoln and his cabinet, the history shows some internal conflict in the administration is good and a good politician can manage it. And all this is even easier if the Dems carry WH, House and the Senate....hopefully including the next mid terms.

God bless whoever is willing to take on the debacle and ruins that will be left when the tRump leaves. God help us all!

I have to say I'm a little dismayed by one sentence in your OP. Are we really still in an era where a candidate's marital status is an issue? What about Katie Porter? AOC?
Condoleeza Rice? Are they lesser women b/c they have no spouse?

That having been said, for me it's a toss-up between Harris and Rice. I'd be thrilled with either.

The OP was not about my CHOICE. It was about a guess as to who gets selected.

She will have to pass muster with a hundred million people. The most arcane stuff can be an issue for some. Marital status can cause a whispering campaign if not outright discussion point for individuals and the media. Like it or not.

I didn't say it was a "criterion" for you specifically, but your quote would seem to indicate it is for someone, otherwise, why bring it up? Calling it a "downside" certainly isn't a positive statement.

Would you make the same point if the person being considered were a man?

Make no mistake, I will support whomever is chosen. But I think Harris would be a big mistake.

First, she needs to stay in the Senate. We need to take the Senate and she needs to stay put.

Second, I just don’t think she comes across well. She sounds whiny to me and she went too far IMHO in the debates. That said, she’s incredibly smart - no doubt about that.

It will be interesting...

But I expect to be disappointed and forced to rationalize the one name I don't want.

I saw somebody post here tonight that Kamala has charisma for days. They must have been long ago days.

I'd much rather risk Benghazi/son than a personality that won't be appealing to swing voters if ever atop the ticket. Biden needs to have someone in his advisory staff who owns clarity toward 2024 and 2028 with the vice presidential pick.

She's a Democrat in a very Democratic state, with a Democratic Governor to name her successor. There's not much risk of losing that Senate seat. Newsom will find a well-qualified Dem to take her place.

The seat at risk in the VP scenario is Warren's, where Republican Charlie Baker would name her successor.

As you say, it really doesn't matter in our choice; we're obviously voting for Biden no matter who is by his side.
