(No question in my mind ,bar their success at vote suppression that Trump will lose and we are highly likely to take the senate)
So the question is Will this country do what must be done"
Or will we just breathe a sigh or relief and try to go back to life as normal as we can? This administration is corrupt. They should be punished for their crimes. Trump is not the only one. But does this country - we the people - have the stomach to back up the next administration to do the necessary work? Or will we just go about our lives, just happy to be rid of them.
Are we going to say its just politics when the Republicans start their pushback against any investigations.

(32,852 posts)We need laws to ensure this never ever happens again. The constitution is nothing right now. If we were following it dump, McConnell and many republicans would have been removed from office and tried for their crimes. Some people ARE above the law as it stands now.

(18,122 posts)I just don't see the US prosecuting a former president. Especially in this case where the president is a cult leader.
On edit-- I believe with all my heart that trump should be behind bars. I just don't think we have the guts to do it.

(9,670 posts)We've let it go before, many a time, and each time the result is more insidious, more diabolical, more existentially threatening.
This time we've spent 4 years splitting hairs debating whether what they've done is treason as defined by the constitution.
If we excuse this behavior and just move on, the next time may well be the last time.
The jury is still out as to whether Trump is signalling the last time, though. We're walking a fine line.

(5,124 posts)about Dems wanting to destroy the Republican party, they want one party rule, socialism, fascism and other outrageous nonsense
My fear is that so many people desperate for some sense of normalcy will just want to let it go and move on instead of more long drawn out political war fare.

(13 posts)I think Biden and other Dems need to keep this on the down low. We don't want to give any energy to Trump voters and perceived "persecution" may do that. I really do believe a list of Trump malfeasance is being kept and will be decimated to Fed and State officials once a Biden presidency is underway. At least this is my hope.

The LAST thing that I want to hear is "we need to move forward and bring the country together".
One reason we have this idiot in the Oval Office is that jr (and all his accomplices) was not prosecuted for his crimes.
