Barr Denies Testifying Before Congress

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Attorney General William Barr stirred controversy on Tuesday by categorically denying during his congressional testimony that he was testifying before Congress.

“I am not now nor have I ever testified before the House Judiciary Committee,” Barr told the House Judiciary Committee. “Any suggestion to the contrary is a flat-out lie.”

After the chairman of the committee, Representative Jerrold Nadler, claimed that he could see Barr sitting several feet away from him, Barr came out swinging.

“I am not going to respond to hypothetical questions about where I may or may not be sitting at any given moment,” Barr retorted.

Barr’s steadfast denial that he was testifying before Congress drew the ire of Nadler, who said that Barr’s prevarication was unbecoming of the Attorney General of the United States.

Barr’s response was swift and fierce. “I am not the Attorney General, and any assertion that I am is patently absurd,” he said.

At the end of the hearing, one of Barr’s fellow-Republicans on the committee, Representative Jim Jordan, apologized to Barr for the going-over he had received from Democrats.

“Given how badly you were treated today, I don’t blame you one bit for not being here,” Jordan said.

They create their own reality on the fly.

I did notice in the photo you posted, some Congressional staff member misspelled the word "Horrible"....

The news shows tonight are all discussing Gohmert's diagnosis and Chris Hayes was just speaking with a NYC doctor who was saying how fast this can spread. Herman Cain neglected to wear a mask and he's been hospitalized for 3 weeks - and now Louie Gohmert, who continues to deny that his refusal to take mandated precautions had anything to do with it. These people really are deranged - and the denial and lack of national leadership is the reason this is one of the few countries where things are still getting exponentially worse!

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I'm listening to MSNBC and that's what most everyone is discussing. With Trump, it's just one national crisis after another!

And I just used the photo that Andy Borowitz provided - I'm sure I could have found a much more unflattering one without looking too hard...

With the virus, it's almost like they're playing Russian roulette with virus particles to the cameras of a political reality show but the sick part is that it's being played out throughout America in churches, family gatherings, parties, bars, beaches and political meetings.

And, the entire foundation of their stupidity is driven by Republican's unfaltering support of full-steam-ahead business interests. That clearly shows us where their loyalties lie.

You may have already watched this video but it's one of the most clear condemnations of GOP COVID-19 carelessness I've seen lately (also posted elsewhere on DU):

Good Thursday to you, Rhiannon! Don't forget to watch the NASA launch this morning between 7:00 and 8:00am EST.

And yet we compare this to previous "scandals" - Jimmy Carter "lusted in his heart" and of course Obama wore that tan suit...

Thanks Rhiannon!

"Barr also stated, "I know that I am young and handsome, with the most enviable body ever seen in politics, but I am also the most ethical, respectable and incorruptable man you will ever see in your life. Behold, the paragon of republican virtue!"

Isn't that him, exactly? Of course Droopy Dog is much cuter. It's more like if Droopy Dog was a villian and a closeted religious bigot.
