This is the guy that wrote the 1993 crime bill and she is the former Attorney General of California. They have put more black people in prison than anyone, and blah blah blah.....
so now the law and order party is going to be so concerned about black people and the criminal justice system....
And unfortunately there are going to be some liberals and black people who are going to criticize the ticket for this reason, as if the alternative is somehow better...smh

No matter who Biden chooses, there will be a predictable line of attack. If the American people actually fall for it and Trump gets re-elected then the USA deserves our ash-heap of history moment sooner rather than later.

Crazy how someone can have a Susan Rice as a mother and be that much of a right winger. I can understand being Republican and/or Conservative, but not a far right crazy. But honestly, I guess thats all thats left now if you consider yourself conservative

(17,134 posts)As for peoples' sources on that, I know nothing useful.
My point in bringing it up is to say that the right wing smear machine will be in full effect no matter who the VP is. That part is unavoidable.
But those smears are not entirely unpredictable, depending on the candidate, and so should not be ignored when deciding. Consider the smears, without mindlessly capitulating to them. But some realism/pragmatism is warranted.

(12,046 posts)Democrats shouldn't make choices based on the bullshit Republicans will throw. They do not set our agenda.

The black people who have a problem with it are mostly black men who don't want to vote for a women and are probably even more critical of black women . They didn't support Stacey Abrams either.
Anyways , it's not going to be black people you have to worry about. They can already see through the bs.

(6,195 posts)And if South Carolina taught us anything, it's that they love Joe Biden.
It's the Presidential vote that will matter this election; not so much VP.
It's hard not to be nervous about the election, I know, but Joe's VP pick is not going to have the effect you're claiming, and besides, there are downsides to every one of the possible VP candidates.
I think first and foremost, Biden will pick someone with whom he feels he can work closely. He's been in that position and knows what it takes - to give a lot of support to the President. He wants someone who he feels will be a big support for the BIG job ahead of cleaning up after Trump and someone to whom he can offload some projects. Let him have the space to decide those things.

(4,368 posts)And of course 99% of the people in my family are political educated and want Trump gone. But we have some knuckleheads (a few of our younger early 20s male family members)...who want to act like they know politics and always bring up the crime bill and Kamalas AG record...cant get through to them, they just regurgitate what they may have heard somewhere...,they arent big into politics or the news, and I wouldnt label them conservatives (Matter fact they have liberal views), they are just stupid and are taking being Woke to a whole new level

The person I heard say that blacks want Trump gone above all is Joy Reid. And like you, she said her kids, who are Bernie supporters, want someone more progressive to vote for. I don't know what she is saying about her kids now, given the current state of affairs (I haven't listened to her new show), but maybe if those kids hear how much Bernie is actually working with Joe now, and how progressive the Dem platform has become (M4A, for example), they'll feel better about turning out. I hope so!

(4,368 posts)Doubt that they would vote for Trump...they will use the both are the same line and Democrats dont do anything for Black people...in an attempt to show their wokeness
But again, they are definitely the small minority.
Edit: hell, the more I think about it, they would use those lines with everyone who is on the short list.

(6,195 posts)they will be following the usual pattern of low turnout of young voters.
I hope they can find a reason to vote blue, though....

(27,764 posts)to label the Democratic nominee as "the REAL racist." Some young people unfamiliar with politics fell for that.
The misinformation about Harris is all lined up and ready to go. Even here, it had to be debunked after she announced her candidacy and it flooded the Internet. But of course it will happen to some extent to whoever is the nominee.

(19,675 posts)I'm fine with her if that's where we land. Honest, I'm fine with a ham sandwich as VP. It's IQ would probably be more than Pence, and it would definitely own the popularity round.
