Gohmert says he will take hydroxychloroquine as COVID-19 treatment

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Wednesday he will take an anti-malaria drug that experts have warned doesn’t treat the coronavirus after he tested positive for the virus.

"My doctor and I are all in," Gohmert said about hydroxychloroquine during a Wednesday evening interview with Fox News, according to Newsweek.

"I got a text before I came on from a friend doctor who just found out he had it, and he started the regimen too — zinc and hydroxychloroquine. And that will start in a day or two, so thank you," the congressman added.

Congressional aides confirmed Wednesday that Gohmert, who has largely opted against wearing a mask around the Capitol, tested positive for COVID-19.

You're right. I was wrong.

I based my comment off of the Henry Ford study that came out in early June. It was a review of treatment and outcomes and found did people who took HCQ in fact did have better survival rates.

Only it wasn't a double-blind study. The causal relationship wasn't there. It's complicated, but the tl;dr is that because HCQ requires treatment early and the progress of the disease, it was being given to people who had an overall greater chance of surviving and was not being given to people who had an overall better chance of dying.

In the last week a study out of Brazil that did double blinds found that HCQ had harsh side effects and did not improve in chances of recovery.

I actually have doubts that his repuke ass even has it. I would not put it pass any of them to fake having it, say HCQ cured them and then flaunt around like "King Dipshit and his merry band of quack Dr.'s are right - it works."
