Get your absentee ballot.
Do it today.
Vote the moment you can.
This has to be an electoral college wipeout, and it has to hurt.
He has to be crushed, humiliated, and driven from office, public life, and society.

(2,264 posts)I will drop my vote off in person as soon as I can because ... and I can't believe I have to say this... not sure that I trust the USPS to get it there correctly.
Which is why he and all his stooges need to be " crushed, humiliated, and driven from office, public life, and society." and IMPRISONED.

(34,439 posts)I keep hearing that Biden is the presumptive nominee, and we dont know who is the running mate, so I wonder whether states can act before the ticket is official.

I vote by mail or personal delivery and our ballots don't come out until October. I doubt they've been printed yet.

(13,892 posts)I was wondering if there were special elections going on someplace. Thanks.

(10,133 posts)Remember that president is not the only office on the ballot. Every House seat is up, and a third of the senate.
In California the election time-line is set by law. There's a detailed description of all the behind the scenes work that is currently going on for the November election at

(34,439 posts)ballots now. My point is that probably most (all?) states wont start accepting applications until the ballots are ready for distribution. So I think hes jumping the gun a bit.

(47,405 posts)and they are taking applications for both the primary and the general election already. I sent in my application three days ago. I will mail my ballots as soon as it is permissible.

(402 posts)I'm in Nevada and I can apply TODAY for a mail-in ballot, since we are done with all our primaries and there are no special elections left. I don't know when I will get it but I suppose I won't get it until Biden's running mate has been selected and Biden has become the "for sure" Democratic candidate. I thought I heard that he has attained that status, but I could be wrong. At any rate, with the new Post Office General and the shenanigans going on with slowing the mail, I will be dropping my ballot off at the PO dropbox and would recommend others do the same. Also, I think the earlier I send in my ballot, I will still have the option of voting in person, if I don't receive my ballot in time. I would recommend others do the same if at all possible.
Ballots have to have names. We don't even a VP yet. There are also other presidential numerous candidates that will end up on the ballot (like green party and so on), and their deadline to get on the ballot haven't passed yet in many states.

(4,164 posts)At least it works that way in my state.
It is also smart to submit your request as early as possible.

(31,261 posts)those offices must appear on the same ballot as the presidential race.
My guess is ballots will be mailed out in late September at the latest.
I personally plan to early vote in person. Getting Trump out of office is worth risking sickness. I will have on robust PPE and take my chances from there. Typically, early voting takes 5-10 minutes for me, depending upon how many state initiatives are on the ballot.

(47,405 posts)and I loved how they handled elections. I opted in for mail-in ballots and I didn't have to do anything else unless I wanted to opt out. They are great.

(6,926 posts)We did not have lots of Democratic choices, but we wanted to practice and know the ins and outs before November.
Who knows how the virus will be in November and we will be voting to save the country, maybe even the world.

(19,195 posts)I have a full Tyvek suit (complete with booties) and a full-face respirator saved, and I'm showing up in person to cast my ballot for Joe Biden and every other Democrat on the ticket. Will it look ridiculous? You bet. Do I care? Not in the least. It will be a reminder to all about the complete lack of response to the Corona virus by Donald Trump. I was thinking about decorating the Tyvek suit with "Vote for Biden" written all over it, but the election campaigning laws would prohibit that and they'd make me take it off. I don't want that to happen. I hope I drive the Trump voters completely crazy, because they'll be the ones without any protection on whatsoever.

..matter what we do. Voted Absentee in our June 23rd primary election which included down ballot offices. So it was important, even though the Presidential primary was over.
And they still haven't been able to count or to account for all of them. And this is New York. Our elections are under-funded and damn near broken.

(31,261 posts)few days before the election, or even on Election Day. That is bullshit. The issues and candidates will be known in September. People will get their November ballot in September or early October, they need to get off their asses and get it properly filled out and mailed or hand carried to their county registrars office to be stamped as returned properly.

(31,261 posts)Never-Trumpers know the right way to fight that orange asshole. Too many people on our side seem focused on believing that Trump will steal the election. LISTEN, WE CAN STOP TRUMP, WHAT IT TAKES IS AWARENESS AND PLANNING.
I called the city clerk and they said they send them out 45 days before election so sometime second/third week of September. Already voted in August 4th primary here in Michigan.
Im 69 and my husband is 68 and, except for the primary in 2016 when we were in Maui, this is the first time we decided to just do mail in.. generally there are more election workers than voters at our polling place.

(33,310 posts)I just sparred with a "fraudster" on FB who told me that it is "just my opinion" that VBM is honest and efficient. me and the Utah State government...
then couldn't even come up with an anecdotal story supporting their "opinion" that it is fraud-riddled.

Thank you for the information. Your application will be sent in mid September. Once you receive your application, please complete all highlighted areas and mail it back right away. The last day our office can receive an application and mail a ballot is Tuesday, Oct 27th.
getagrip_already
(14,716 posts)But I understand the argument. A lot of people will only vote if it is done via the mail. They should apply for their ballot as early as possible and return it the day they receive it. Then, they should follow up and make sure it was received (if possible). Put a return receipt or tracking on it if possible.
There is a large chance the postal service will isolate and hold mail in ballots from certain zip codes. It's easy for them to do, although illegal. If they do that, we need to know as soon as possible in order to try to undo it.
