https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/on-the-golf-course-i-gotta-go-republicans-wimp-out-after-being-confronted-with-trumps-call-to-delay-elections/After President Donald Tweeted that he wanted to put off the election, it became clear that not only was it not going to happen, but even Republican officials were against the idea. At least, some of them were, others were far too busy to speak out against the unconstitutional plot.
Rick Santorum, a former Republican senator and CNN pundit, was among those who couldnt be bothered.
Im on the golf course. I gotta go, he told the New York Times.

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), who is in a difficult reelection bid, also couldnt take a moment to indicate whether she supports stopping the election.
Not answering any questions, she told CNNs Manu Raju.
Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), as well as Rep. Michael Whatley (R-AL), all agreed it was a bad idea. Rubio specifically said he wished that Trump hadnt said it.
The election is going to be held in November. Absentee ballots in North Carolina are strongly encouraged, as has the president encouraged them, said Tillis.
Good golly what a bunch of limp dicks. "wished he hadn't said it" Wow, Marco, don't go all postal on us!
dawg day
(7,947 posts)The problem actually is that Trump does/believes/is that bad thing, not just that he said it.

(11,495 posts)is get their head out of trumps ass, and do what it right for the country, not what will keep trump from turning on them. It's way past time for republicans to do the right thing and remove trump from office.
The only problem is they all seem to be compromised in one way or another and are afraid to do what is right. Instead they are standing by and watching trump destroy democracy because they want to save their own ass, and to hell with saving the country, and those who live here.
It's time to vote every last one of them out of office and we start the ball rolling in November.
Sympthsical
(9,041 posts)But the more it becomes obvious Trump is a flying dumpster fire going down as hard as possible, the more I wonder why the hell Republicans aren't sawing desperately away at the rope. He'll drag them all down. And yet still this mealy-mouthed bullshit again and again. If you can't rebuke him now, when can you?
What does the President have on these people?
Graham is definitely seeing the writing on the wall. He's in danger and he knows it. If nothing else, his self-preservation skills are kicking into high gear.
You'd think anyone in a tenuous re-election would start exiting the building. But no, there they are, scurrying and hiding and hoping no one notices them crouching in a corner.
It's so completely baffling. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. The President floats a flagrantly unconstitutional idea that is a clear and present danger to the stability of the Republic, and the best response we can get out of some people is, "Now watch this drive."
I'm starting to be convinced that Trump and his friends have compromising material on some of these people. I can find no other reasonable explanation at this point. The election is a few months out. They've appointed all of the judges. It should be ok to cut loose by now, and idiot has given them a golden opportunity. Yet they don't take it.
