COVID relief will "allow employers to sue workers for demanding safer conditions."

This is from Wonkette. They link to the LA Times column and I’ve added it below.

Then there's the provision allowing employers to sue workers who seek damages in a COVID-19 case. That's a bit complex, so go read the column for the details, but it basically comes down to this: If workers file a lawsuit and offer to settle out of court — a pretty standard practice in liability cases since nobody wants to go to trial — the employer can countersue the workers if the case is determined to be "meritless," which of course the bill doesn't define. And in a real fun twist, while damages for the rare workers who can actually win a lawsuit are strictly limited,

Unlike the limitation on damages elsewhere in the bill, by the way, the punitive damages that can be awarded to employers bringing these lawsuits aren't capped.

The bill would even allow the United States attorney general to sue plaintiffs in such cases, just to make sure nobody's taking advantage of the poor downtrodden corporations.

The Republicans are trying to shaft workers to benefit their backers. And it will cause unsafe working conditions and kill people. They mustn't be allowed to get away with this.

This organization is referred to as “the cult” in my house.

They had a 7 page employment contract with features like:
If you leave and we determine that work or a project was not completed, the employee is willing to return taking whatever leave is necessary at their current employer. - they did mention being compensated

And the part about if there is a suit, regardless of the outcome, the employee may be liable for employers legal fees

I was so desperate for work in 2009 I didn’t even read the thing. When they brought it back up in 2013 I was dancing on an edge trying to get out of there and not getting fired. I ended up with my current dream job just as the hammer was being dropped. Literally a 3 hour window.

Incredibly hostile and punitive to average American workers. The cruelty of sticking something like this provision would be unfathomable if McConnell were not manipulating the puppet strings with Agent Orange.
