trump: It could take years to find out who won the presidential election

Hmm mm.....quite a conundrum he has set up.

Perhaps he is thinking that by keeping it in court "for years" that he would continue serving as fake president.

An individual who reads as much as he says he does and has the astounding comprehension that he claims to have would have certainly noticed that there are few problems with that scenario.:

The election for the house would certainly not take years - each legislative district being much much smaller than the presidential constituency. The new House goes into session on Jan. 3, while the presidential inauguration is Jan. 21.

As I understand it, the law states that the current (fake)president and vice president leave office at 12:00 on innauguration day. Assuming that there is no clear winner because of donald's legal shenanigans then we would, of course, default to the Speaker of the House until the question is decided.

Nancy Pelosi would then choose a vp to be approved by the House. Who better than Joe Biden. If Nancy steps down, Joe would be president and could nominate his vp ... yada, yada, yada.

about clearest (and least contestable) line of succession being President Pro Tempore of the Senate, who would be selected from the majority party Senators whose terms were not up for re-election this year. It’s traditional for Pres Pro Tem to be the most tenured Senator- so Leahy- but it’s not mandated. They could technically select any sitting Senator they want....

When I delivered the Sunday New York times in McClean Va some years ago, Al Haig was on my route. He took the Sunday Times every other week (when he wasn't at his place in New York.) I always turned into his circular drive to put it at the doorstep as instructed)

One Sunday we had at least 4 inches of snow. But rain, sleet, snow, blah, blah, blah. So I turned into his drivesay ... and promptly got stuck in the snow. The unfortunate thing was that he was out of town that week and couldn't come out to be in charge ... so I had to dig myself out of the snow.

Is it accurate?

https://people.howstuffworks.com/postpone-presidential-election.htm

Can the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election Be Postponed?

Snip but I kind of mean the whole thing

Another wrinkle: If a national election is postponed beyond a certain point, there won't be a House, either. (All Representatives, remember, have to be elected every two years. No election, no House.) In that case, it falls to the Senate to pick the president because the Senate is a "continuing body;" two-thirds of its members are always sitting, with staggered elections only every six years. If none of that works, the selection of the president reverts to the rules of succession: the Speaker of the House (if there is one) will act as president and, if not him (or her), the Senate's President pro tempore assumes the acting gig. This has never happened.
