Real Time with Bill Maher continues its 18th season Friday, July 31 (10:00-11:00 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), with a replay at 11:30 p.m., exclusively on HBO.
This week features one-on-one virtual interviews with Emmy® nominated actress Kerry Washington, who recently produced the ACLU documentary The Fight; and actor, comedian, and co-author of the New York Times bestselling novel Memoirs and Misinformation, Jim Carrey. This week will also feature a virtual panel with columnist and author of Self-Portrait in Black and White: Unlearning Race, Thomas Chatterton Williams; and journalist and author of How to Fight Anti-Semitism, Bari Weiss.

(4,868 posts)Here comes another disingenuous "cancel culture" rant from Bill Maher. He sucks.

(3,803 posts)But he has some good writers whose material he can deliver very well. I can just shake my head when he starts his stupid rants by himself -- I cannot stand it when he's doing it with somebody who agrees with his bullshit.
Therefore, I won't be watching the segment with Bari Weiss.

(4,868 posts)Not to mention his anti-vaxxer and aids denialism. He's a huckster and not a progressive.

(3,803 posts)I will never defend him other than to say that he can deliver lines somebody else wrote for him that are quite funny.
I do like to see some of his guests speak, too.
I like the COVID format of his show (where the "panel" is separated) because it allows me to easily skip over the crap I don't wanna see.
Blecht
(3,803 posts)That'll be a segment to skip.

(63,221 posts)I can't believe July is over already! Looks like a pretty good lineup except for the dreaded Bari Weiss. Is she really that good for his ratings? I can't imagine that she is, but she is on his show way too often.
Anyway, I will still plan to watch on YouTube or catch your re-cap later since I don't get HBO.
Hope your summer is going well!

(205,237 posts)And it's probably more difficult for Bill to get guests these days, he's had Jay Leno twice since it looks like he's a neighbor. And you know that I'll post all the segments that are available, seems unlikely they'll leave anyone out this week since they're leading with Kerry Washington, Jim Carrey is a big draw, and his "panel" is probably the longest segment.

(6,143 posts)Another conservative victimization segment?
I wonder if Maher is going to keep pushing for reopening so he can make money?
