..when we prevail.
Say it.
When we prevail.
It's the corollary to We Shall Overcome.
When we prevail, we will add DC and PR to states.
We will end the filibuster.
We can add supreme court justices.
We will (thereby) begin to restore a balance of power.
Maybe we will enact term limits.
Maybe we will correct gerrymandering.
When we prevail.
We will review the powers of the presidency to limit the UNITARY aspect.
We will test the DoJ memo that a sitting president can't be criminally indicted in court.
Anything else? When we prevail....

(9,895 posts)I DEMAND my pound of fucking flesh this time...these fuckers need to pay until their generations ALL feel the pain - past, present and future. This calamity DEMANDS justice be done and it shall not stop for compassion or to "move forward" there IS NO FORWARD until the perpetrators of this mess swing high and hard.

(6,254 posts)into dust will be Trump's only redeeming historical relevance. If Dems win all three branches, like Obama and Grasswire2 points out, Dems must act decisively to fix the structural imbalance of power to such an extent that R's will never be relevant again. We must act boldly. And for good measure, take their fricken assault weapons away just for the fun of it.

Common sense gun legislation.
Protection of WH access for journalists by restoring the sole credentialing authority of the Correspondents' Association and codifying in resolution of Congress. Reporters covering Congress have access codified in Senate Rules. WH reporters have no such protection.

(31,893 posts)If a temporary "acting" appointment should be necessary, it must have a time limit of no more than 30 days.

(13,569 posts)But Trump WH is simply ignoring it.

(13,569 posts)"Vacancies can be filled by an acting official for 210 days under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act. If the vacancy dates from the inauguration of a new administration, they can get a 90 day extension, making the time limit 300 days. If there's a nomination pending before the Senate, then the acting official can continue to serve until the nominee is either confirmed or rejected.
If somebody exceeds the time limit, some of their actions that are considered non-delegable will cease to be enforceable by law. Since the limit is counted from the date of the original vacancy, it's unlikely that appointing a new acting official is allowed. The President has stated a preference for acting department heads because of the increased flexibility in dealing with them and because he doesn't like dealing with the Senate confirmation process."

(13,569 posts)Neither of the top executives are confirmed by the Senate, AFAIK.
In fact, one of them has this title: Official Doing Business Of Acting Deputy Secretary (or something very similar). Really.
