Americas Dying: Russian Media Is Giddy at Chaos in the USADaily Beast, Julia Davis, 7/30/2020
Instead of confronting Putin, Trump lashed out at Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) about domestic antifascist group antifa, tweeting in part, Jerry, blame it on Russia, Russia, Russia! The unfunny punchline reaffirmed that Russian wrongdoing would continue to be swept under the carpet by the Trump administrationa signal that was enthusiastically received in Moscow. Trump is still ours, concluded Russian International Affairs Council expert Alexey Naumov. Whew, theatrically exhaled the host of a state media news talk show 60 Minutes, Olga Skabeeva.
Trump is ours is a familiar refrain in Russian state media. Its aim is twofold: mocking the inquiry into the Kremlins involvement in the U.S. elections, while simultaneously emphasizing the inexplicable hold Putin seems to possess over his American counterpart. Its hardly humorous, in light of Trumps actions that consistently benefit Russias agenda on the world stage. During the 2018 Trump-Putin press conference in Helsinki, the Russian president openly admitted that he wanted Trump to win the 2020 election. Russian experts, pundits, and the Kremlins bullhorns repeatedly reiterate that Trump is still the preferred figure in the upcoming presidential contestas a chaos candidate, dividing Americans domestically and causing international rifts within transatlantic alliances.

Margarita Simonyan, the head of the state-funded TV channel RT, formerly known as Russia Today, was similarly blunt in her assessment. She told Komsomolskaya Pravdaa daily Russian tabloid newspaperthat Americas complete disintegration would be highly beneficial for Russia. Simonyan speculated that internal chaos would force the United States to focus on its own survival, allowing Russia and other countries to pursue their global aims unimpeded: In order for them to leave us alone, it is necessary that they be terribly busy with their own internal problems. This perception falls in line with recent revelations that Russian intelligence services are using English-language websites to spread disinformationundoubtedly, just a tiny snowflake on the tip of Russias anti-Western disinformation iceberg. In the run up to the U.S. presidential elections, these efforts can be expected to intensify.

America can do one of two things: Fix your systemic problems and claw your way back to being respected again or degrade into chaos and ineffectiveness, allowing China and Russia to become the world's powers.

We will regain the trust of our NATO and EU allies and Russia will receive the punishment it so richly deserves.
As for China state driven capitalism can get things done quickly but at a terrible cost to its citizenry.
We'll never have the overwhelming power we posed after WWII, nor should we.
But a four year controlling of a weak, corrupt, selected president by Russia will not cause the world to flee from us in droves and to Russia and China.
Both of those countries have been dominated for centuries first by tsars and emperors and then by the most ruthless authoritarian regimes the world has ever seen.

(9,426 posts)to tRump. He had plenty of help from the gop and the incompetent "administration" he gathered around him. Remember last year when the gop group visited Russia on the 4th of July? What timing, yet they condemn sports figures for kneeling during the national anthem. What was the purpose of THAT visit? We already know that Putin poured lots of money into the last "election" and secured the gop power in the WH. Were they telling Putin what they had in store for the next 4 years, if he backs up tRump? Not one of them ever answered any questions about that visit. Several of them openly seem to be working AGAINST this country. We should have raised hell over that visit, they should have been questioned openly about it. Taxpayer funded junket to Russia, to help destroy the USA. tRump is the worst kind of person to "lead" the country, but the gop gives him lots of help.
