I checked on my absentee ballot, which I mailed about a week ago. Here is the message on the website:
August 11, 2020, State Primary:
Your ballot was accepted on July 27, 2020 and will be counted.
I don't know about every state, but it's easy to check on your absentee ballot in Minnesota. See what your state has available to check whether your ballot has been received. It's important to do that before election day, so you can go to your polling place and vote if the ballot was not received.

Unfortunately not every state wants to make it that easy

(146,262 posts)Now I know that my ballot is in the hopper to be counted on August 11, so i can relax and know I have voted, as surely as if I went to my polling place.

(26,251 posts)Which might make me change my mind about voting in person, in November. I am going that route, next week. My polling place is really close, the precincts are set up in a huge room, I get there at about 10 and I've rarely had more than 4 or 5 people ahead of me, in line. However, the lines just might be long, for the General Election.

(146,262 posts)I will vote as soon as I possibly can in the general election here in Minnesota. I want to make sure that my vote happens. Life's uncertain, these days. That's why I voted early in the Primary, too.

(26,251 posts)Right now things aren't too bad in my part of the county, but who knows what will happen by November.
I admit I'll miss that satisfaction of sliding my ballot into that scanner, seeing it counted, and then picking up my 'I Voted' sticker.

(36,424 posts)In my county, you can sign up for text alerts letting you know when the Election Division has mailed out your ballot and then again when they receive your ballot back. We also have special drop-off ballot boxes at all the Clerk and Recorder's offices and at places like the library, too. And I see they've implemented special procedures due to Covid, for in-person voting.
Anyone who truly believes in representative government would never vote for a candidate/party who/that wants to make voting more difficult for the People.

(2,860 posts)You have to go to your county supervisor of elections to find it though. Thanks for the heads up!

(58,605 posts)They've never leaked the results early, so I don't see why states can't 'pre-count' the mail in ballots instead of waiting for election day to count them. Of course, Repubs don't learn from other people's mistakes, it seems they have to make them all themselves.

No excuse (other than outright partisan voter suppression) for not having Unversal Vote by Mail.
