Press corps criticizes GOP plan to bar journalists and re-nominate Trump behind closed doors

On Saturday, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter Frank Lockwood broke the news that the Republican National Committee intends to re-nominate President Donald Trump behind closed doors.

Zeke Miller, the Associated Press reporter who is president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, urged Republicans to reconsider. “The nomination of a major party presidential candidate is very much the business of the American people,” Miller explained.

The spokesperson could not say whether the event would even be televised by C-SPAN.

I can’t figure this one out yet.

What would they want to hide?

If it's a secret, some could lie that they even voted for him.

Imagine a political party having to hide their vote for an already known Presidential candidate.

What if all the secrecy is because they are looking at NOT endorsing trump?

That's not as farfetched of an idea as it might have been in Jan.

I actually hope they put Pence up..Pence and Nikki Haley...there have been rumors.
Pence/Haley ticket and trump going bonkers on twitter till the election. Would his slavishly loyal base switch, or would they write in trump, I wonder.

More I think of it, the better I like the idea.

That would be a big ol’ surprise.

But I think they’re stuck with him. Probably has dirt on everyone and godnoze he’s not the self-sacrificing type.

Would it be possible to hire Samuel L. Jackson to sit in a beautiful antique chair in a plush living room and read Mary L. Trump's "Too Much and Never Enough" to the camera? They can play it on all the networks (except Trump News Network aka OANN) that aren't allowed to carry Donny's convention.

On one I guess we should be grateful to not have to watch grown men debase themselves for Il Dunce. But I guess for those who could stomach watching it, you’d see how very low they’ve sunk.

Trump doesn't want images of the paltry, desultory crowd broadcast across the nation. The stink of loserdom would waft in waves from the screen.
