Woman Makes Friends With 4-Year-Old Girl Who Yelled 'Black Lives Matter' In Home Depot

(CBS4) – It could have been an awkward moment for two Colorado moms: a 4-year-old girl yelled “Black lives matter!” at a Black woman she saw shopping in Home Depot. Instead, it was the beginning of a precious friendship.

“I went back to say thank you for recognizing that my life matters,” Sherri Gonzales told CBS4.

“Her mom was not expecting her to say that and did not know what to say,” Sherri said.

Sherri said they talked for a few minutes and the girl, Cam, noticed her Denver Broncos necklace. Cam told Sherri she wants to be a Broncos cheerleader one day.

Last week, she got a call from Cam’s mom. They were having a garage sale and wanted to donate all the proceeds to her organization, Sherri’s Girls Empowerment International, on behalf of Cam.

Sherri said the two-day garage raised $2,070.

“[They] donated every penny to my school in Kenya,” Sherri said.



“All of this happens because of a sweet little 4 year old recognized that my life matters.”

2. I drove down to Lansing last week and when I

turned a corner there was a young lady, looked to be college age to me, standing alone holding a BLM sign. Kind of looked a little sad to me, so my hand hit the horn, I smiled and gave her a thumbs up. Her face lit up with a big smile as if I made her day.

It cost nothing to be nice.

not sure at people holding signs, but when I see people walking or biking and I'm in my car, I always try to give them a wave and/or a smile.

Good for all of them, for all the good work they do!

But I want to especially note little Cam! Look at that posture! Those eyes! That focus! She is FIERCE! This tiny lady will not only achieve being a Broncos cheerleader, but she could be anything she wants - even President of the United States of America. She has the back bone of a true Commander in Chief.
