Seriously? Lack of empathy may be the biggest crisis we face right now.

Cause everything else wrong seems to tie back to this. To the “Gots mine” attitude, and the “Won’t hurt me. Why should I care?” The social contract and acknowledgment that we’re in this together and the ability to see each other’s humanity... it’s been severely damaged. Intentionally so. And that’s not new... but it seems to me to be pretty close to as bad as we’ve seen and the problems we face demand we look farther than our own short term interests. /rant

Is some of the most amazing bullshit I've ever heard.

Lack of empathy has been the Retrumplican Party platform for close to 50 years.

The fact that we have empathy and compassion is the very reason Retrumplicans feel enabled to run roughshod over our social compact and political norms.

I think it's time for Democrats to decide that we can work on repairing our social compact AFTER we've stomped a fucking hole through the Retrumplican Party.

Let's talk about "all in this together" when the Retrumplicans are actually "in".

It's a core tenet of every religion on the planet.

JESUS directly said it (Matthew 25:40. Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.), and there's no copy of the Bible without it!
