Jake Paul Won't Give Up Partying Despite Backlash For Throwing Ragers During Pandemic

Another YouTuber claimed he knew of people testing positive for COVID-19 after attending “influencer parties” over the last few weeks.

Jake Paul said in a recent interview that he’s “not the type of person who's gonna sit around and not live” his life after facing backlash for hosting parties during the ongoing pandemic. His comments come after several Los Angeles-based influencers apologized for attending a widely criticized party, while other accounts reported that unnamed influencers tested positive after attending parties. In an interview with Insider published July 31, the controversial YouTuber didn’t mention any regret for hosting multiple parties in his Calabasas home during the COVID-19 crisis. In mid-July, several videos surfaced of one of his parties and showed crowds of people in his mansion and backyard, not wearing masks or social distancing. Despite the rise in cases in California — particularly in LA County — Insider reported that Paul would not confirm whether he’d stop hosting parties.

“I don't know what to think of it, to be honest. I don't think anyone really does," Paul told Insider. "No one has answers, our leadership is failing us, and everyone kind of just doesn't know what to do. But I personally am not the type of person who's gonna sit around and not live my life.” Shortly after videos of Paul’s party circulated, Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub told FOX11 news that she was “outraged.” According to Insider, Paul said he spoke with the mayor on July 31, saying “everything is cool.” Though Weintraub told Insider that she only spoke to a representative of Paul’s since the party. Weintraub told FOX11 last month that she would be working with the local sheriff’s department to make sure that any future large gatherings “will not be tolerated.”

Paul isn’t the only influencer to be called out for hosting parties during the pandemic. Well-known online personalities including James Charles, Nikita Dragun, and Tana Mongeau were criticized for attending a party at LA’s “Hype House” in late July. The party was thrown for Tik Tok star and YouTuber Larray’s birthday. Hype House member and popular Tik Tok star Tony Lopez said in an Instagram Story on July 31 that he had a fever and sore throat. Lopez also attended Larray’s birthday party. After a wave of backlash flooded the internet, Larray, Charles, and Mongeau have since apologized for being “careless” and attending parties. YouTuber and influencer Elijah Daniel claimed on Twitter last week that “a lot of influencers have been confirmed” to test positive for COVID-19 after attending “influencer parties.”

He added that those people “aren’t warning people they came in contact with” after testing positive. Daniel himself announced on Friday that he has been living with COVID-19 and contracted the virus “again” a few weeks earlier. While the influencer parties in LA continue to rage on, so has the spread of the virus. The state of California has continued to report high numbers of daily new cases. On August 1, more than 9,000 new cases were reported, bringing the total to more than 509,000 cases. LA County is currently leading the U.S. in total cases out of any county, according to Johns Hopkins.

If they do this stupid crap, then let the virus annihilate them.

influence at multiple levels within my age cohort (18 to 30, I am dead in the middle, and the lower half of the cohort are more receptive than the older half) and even younger. They are part of the new capitalism structure, as they help move hundreds of millions (probably far more when you add in actual celebrities from sports and music who made their fame outside of social media but interact on social media as well) of dollars worth of product via viral marketing.

My jaw dropped when I read the OP. Thank you for the insight, and I mean that, Celerity.

I have no idea if this is relatable at all, but almost from the time I could read I chowed down on science fiction, which came home in a succession of boxes from Dad’s workmates and left again when we were all done. We weren’t “fans” and we didn’t talk about what we were reading; it was pure solitary escapism at the time, the ‘50s thru ‘60s (what we did talk about was anything Mom thought was real literature). The point is, this was post WWII and there was a heavy vein of atomic post-apocalyptic sf writing along with dystopian-future what-if sf, and the echoes are still there.

Every so often the echoes are forcefully re-awakened (because real literature sticks with you, no matter what you call it). Some of those authors were damned prescient, and we are now at a crossroads where technology, politics, and massive cultural shifts are colliding — it’s extraordinarily stressful for all humans, but when I read about these kids I felt like a neuron had hit the bug zapper. My neuron.

I hope they survive to mental maturity, is the best I can say. I wish them no harm from the plague.

minutes inputs to further strengthen the imprinting. It also tends to not allow for deep reflective thought, the type that comes from a period of disengagement from further inputs. My wife and I are very rare amongst our age cohort (she is also 24) in that we do maintain active social media personas and presences. I DETEST FB and Instagram, and only use Twitter for some informational gathering (and that in itself is a path littered with peril, due to the incredible amount of dis-info posted.)

I still read books (both fiction and non fiction) voraciously.

The next time on of these selfish ninnies wants to have another party, surround the joint, and don't let any attendees off the premises for the next two months. If you get sick, tough shit.

Not this guy, but some kind of a dust-up between influencers in the on-line beauty community. I never really got it figured out completely, but one of them apparently advertised the beauty products of another one's competitor, and then all hell broke loose.

Its this simple:

drama=clicks=$$$

The more shit you stir up, the more sweet, sweet cash flowing into that bank account.
