https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/internet-stunned-by-now-deleted-photo-of-jerry-falwell-jr-with-his-pants-unzipped/A Houston Chronicle reporter posted what appears to be a screenshot from Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jrs Instagram account, and its going viral on social media. The unconfirmed photo appears to be of Falwell Jr., with his arm around a young woman, his pants unzipped with underwear showing. He is holding a glass.
More vacation shots, the caption reads. Lots of good friends visited us on the yacht. I promised thats only black water in my glass. It was a prop only.
Robert Downen, whose bio says he reports on All things faith/religion for the Houston Chronicle, tweeted out the screenshot.
How long before Falwell pulls a "Jimmy Swaggert" and confesses his sins all the while blaming it on being drunk from the "black water"

So funny to me that Falwell thinks the drink is the thing that he has to justify

(1,868 posts)I was raised right wing fundamentalist in the 70's and 80's and I remember a Christian school that made clear that any young lady wearing a bikini and not a ONE piece bathing suit would be paddled (as an adult I shudder to think that there were probably some hoping some pretty young woman would do this so that they could spank her), ministers wore collar shirts and if they wore shorts (at summer camp, for instance), they were collar shirts, modest and their shirts were tucked in. If they wore a t-shirt it would only be one with a slogan (i.e., "Christian Summer Camp 1977"
.
What this tells me is that many right wing fundie nutriders are dropping any pretense of personal moral standards (for themselves) and making clear what has always, imho, been true: IT IS ALL ABOUT PERSONAL WEALTH AND POWER!

(38,206 posts)They had that rule at the Christian school I went to growing up. Girls had to wear skirts or dresses and the hem could not come above the bottom of the knee. If you were showing knees, you were beaten for it and expelled. I outgrew a dress by a quarter of an inch and ended up beaten for it and sent home, expelled. I hated that school.

(60,320 posts)MIAMI A settlement has been reached in a Florida court case over a disputed business deal that resulted from an unusual friendship that Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife struck with a former pool attendant at a Miami Beach hotel, court records show.
As part of the settlement, which was filed Friday in Miami federal court, Mr. Falwell will pay an undisclosed sum to a young man who claimed he had been offered an ownership stake in a gay-friendly youth hostel, the Miami Hostel, that Mr. Falwell and his wife, Becki, bought in 2013.

(18,690 posts)explain them are simply ridiculous. He does seem to be reckless. It's hard not to wonder about an alcohol issue.
I'd like to know the timestamp when he posted that picture. If it was late night/early morning, etc... After a few drinks (or a lot of drinks) people start to feel invincible and throw caution to the wind and do frankly stupid things.
Does he have an Open Marriage, where it's okay for him to sleep around with other women and Pool Boys? It's just very bizarre for a Christian leader to behave like this (or, I mean, so publicly).

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. and Charlie Kirk spoke to Fox News Monday about their new think tank on the heels of an op-ed in the Atlantic which--based on theologian N.T. Wright's opinion--argued Christianity in the United States is "in crisis."
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, approached Falwell months ago about the "Falkirk Center for Faith and Liberty," which kicked off Saturday as a non-profit at the private Christian university in Lynchburg, Va. as a way to go on "offense" against increasing attacks on Judeo-Christian values.
