(4,291 posts)With the combination of:
- His campaign and the national economy simultaneously tanking,
- Deutsche Bank's compliance with the NY AG's subpoena, and
- Many other mounting crises*,
it's just a matter of time before those in the inner circle persuade him to resign. Or the cabinet invokes Article 25. Then -- a la Gerald Ford -- Mommie's Boy will issue the pardon. I just hope it doesn't take one of many possible worst-case-scenarios to prompt them into action.

* Clearly, the current "first family," the RepubliCONs on Capitol Hill, and members of this benighted administration are not taking the pandemic seriously, apart from trying to figure how to either profit from it, or spin it to Canteloupe Caligula's favor.

They obviously don't care about him. They care about money and power and see him as a means to an end.

(5,269 posts)I doubt the kids and closest advisors would let him resign because they are raking in too much money and need to arrange more big loans to stay afloat too before he goes down.

(7,895 posts)No one who wants to continue breathing would suggest that the Don steps down from running the Family Businesses. Its that kind of family.
Pence is a willing dupe but only useful while Donald is the figurehead. Once Don is gone those behind him have nowhere to hide and nowhere to go. They'll prop him up until Doomsday and a week after that.

(1,702 posts)where the traitor accepts he's not going to win and his only out is to get a pardon from Pence. He still believes from all his babbling that he can self pardon but that's not proven and without doubt it's more risky than a Pence pardon. I've accepted that he will get some sort of Federal level pardon so the only recourse to get him and his crime family is at the State level. Oh how I hope NY and California go after them all and not for white collar fine crap but jail time, break them financially and emotionally. I want them all held accountable and some might say I want R E V E N G E !

(2,412 posts)Its about time that some important people started calling for Mr. Trumps resignation before he kills more people with his irresponsible and irrational decisions. It is past time for a mass drumbeat from across America to rid us of this scourge!!!!! If this were France, he would have been gone a long time ago. Americans are too damn passive and now we see the results of being part of a culture that is hypnotized by TV, Internet and Popular Junk Culture into inactivity that could be the end of us all! Wake up, America!

(43,147 posts)Going to the store but driving to a city 300 miles away. Anger or violence at people close to them or at objects like furniture. No idea the parallels for people in positions of power. But power is power - once removed. There is no power unless others carry out the power. Hopefully the benevolence of souls will prevail. After all, it's not Jonestown.

(9,865 posts)They keep him propped up because he's profitable for a narrow sector of this same rich family. They need to eke out what power he still has. Resignation would be too humiliating and hurt the brand too much. And if he wins....booyah! From their point of view.
