GA-SEN: WNBA players wear 'Vote Warnock' shirts in continued stand against Kelly Loeffler

In a show of support to Raphael Warnock, a Democratic challenger for Kelly Loeffler’s (R) Senate seat in Georgia, players across the WNBA donned T-shirts that read “Vote Warnock” Tuesday afternoon.

Loeffler, who owns a partial share in the Atlanta Dream and was officially appointed the junior United States Senator from Georgia by Governor Brian Kemp in January, penned a letter to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert in July voicing opposition to the league’s plans to honor the Black Lives Matter movement throughout its season. Her seat is up for grabs in a special election set to be held Nov. 3.

This level of public protest — players on a team openly campaigning against their own owner — is virtually unheard of in professional sports. But it is not out of character for players in the W.N.B.A., a league that has frequently shown a willingness to tackle social justice issues publicly. In 2016, W.N.B.A. players were among the first professional athletes in the United States to demonstrate against police brutality, also with T-shirts. The W.N.B.A. initially fined those players before rescinding the fines.

Loeffler had demanded that the WNBA remove the Black Lives Matter signs from the basketball courts, and wanted all players to wear American flag patches on their uniforms. She is a Trumpster through and through, in addition to being the wealthiest member of congress.

There's no justifying those stock trades made right before the plunge.
Non-public nformation material to financial performance of one or many companies obtained in confidence is inside trading.
All such information need not come from inside any one company.
She & her husband should have been prosecuted, and let them explain themselves in court, not at a press briefing.
