On Saturday, Politico reported that President Donald Trump has been brainstorming with GOP officials on how to curb mail-in voting ahead of the 2020 election.
Trumps campaign and the Republican National Committee have taken to the courts dozens of times as part of a $20 million effort to challenge voting rules, including filing their own lawsuits in several battleground states, including Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Nevada, reported Anita Kumar. And around the time Trump started musing about delaying the election last week, aides and outside advisers began scrambling to ponder possible executive actions he could take to curb mail-in voting everything from directing the postal service to not deliver certain ballots to stopping local officials from counting them after Election Day.

Why, for gods sake, are Florida and Texas set aside? Bustos said in an interview. Its not like those are the only two states in the nation with hot spots. And if you call any governor in the nation, theyll tell you they cant, all of a sudden, take on 25 percent of the cost.
Surreal, isn't it?

(12,712 posts)It seems like all the signs point to the fact that they know they can't win, which should mean, in our system, you shouldn't win. That is not rocket science. If they had any confidence, then they would simply proceed with traditional electioneering.
Everything we are seeing from them is a desperate attempt to TAKE the elections, not win them. This does not take much in the way of in-depth analysis to be seen clearly.
Obviously, all the losers are not going to accept that they are an obsolete, counter-productive, destructive, obstructionist, corrupt party to be voted out due to toxicity and their detrimental effect on every aspect of our country and government. Instead, they will resort to criminal and treasonous activity to assure they stay in power.
Ah, that's not how our system works and doing this in broad daylight, (it's not a big secret) is extremely troubling and highly dangerous to our democracy, values and way of life. We all are in jeopardy.
If they succeed, then that's all she wrote. They will continue to use whatever means necessary to both hold power and dismantle and replace what we have.

(9,914 posts)We need to vote early to safely social distance. We need to wear our masks. But for election day long lines, we need to carry portable chairs in case we're in line for hours. If not for ourselves, then for the old folks, or people with bad knees/backs, that can't stand up for that long.
Take people to vote early in car pools.
We need to plan ahead, and not just wait for a nightmare to descend upon us.
This kind of chair:
