Lawrence Wilkerson Walks Bill Maher Through Worst Case Scenarios if Trump Loses This Fall

Wilkerson, a member of the Transition Integrity Project, was the top of the show guest on “Real Time”

On Friday’s episode of “Real Time,” Bill Maher’s top-of-the-show guest was Lawrence Wilkerson, a retired Army colonel and prominent critic of both U.S. foreign policy and Donald Trump. And during a discussion of one of Maher’s favorite topics — his worry that Trump might not honor the election results if he loses in November — Wilkerson broke down some worst case scenarios.

Wilkerson is a member of two bipartisan task forces dedicated to election integrity, including one that recently held “war games” to figure out just how such an unthinkable scenario might play out. As Maher noted, it’s a particularly “urgent” question since recently, Trump hinted in an interview with Chris Wallace that he might not uphold the election results if he loses — in other words, the President of the United States suggested he might conduct a cop d’etat.

Wilkerson explained that the Transition Integrity Project, which conduced the ‘war games,’ included “some really high-powered political analysts, scholars and others playing the Republicans,” many of which are Republicans, and “Democrats playing the Dems.”

According to Wilkerson, the group gamed out several different scenarios for how things could go based on specific circumstances of the election. “One that you might suspect is a complete Biden Blowout. That is to say, Electoral College and popular vote, Biden wins. Then what does the Trump team do?” he said. “Another one, as you might surmise also, and very difficult and complex, is where there is really a lot of closeness. A lot of indecision. Maybe a popular vote one way and electoral college vote in other way. Or possibly even no way to determine and it’s thrust into the House of Representatives. So different scenarios, different reactions from each team.”

On disturbing thing Wilkerson relayed to Maher was that “when the Republican team got the scenario ‘decisive Biden win’ and threw its moves out there, the Democratic team was stunned by the arrogance, the sheer power and the sheer indecency, if you will, of the Trump team moves. Everything from, Okay, we got 70 days to destroy the United States government. We’ve got 70 days in which to not provide the incoming team with any transition whatsoever; You want to know what our policy is on Iran, on China, on taxes, you won’t know it because we’ve destroyed all the paperwork and we won’t let anyone brief you. You are coming into an empty White House.”

might not be a bad idea. My fear is all the damage trump will do if Biden wins in November. trump will have 2 months to cause a lot of damage.

From what we've managed to learn, they're getting prepared now - in fact, have already started!

Li'l Don-Don has been known to inspect the bunker when things get a little hostile outside.
He gets spooked by loud noises and angry animals.
His enablers and fellow traitors, from family to the media, spend an awful lot of time out in the open.
I'm just gonna watch Downfall again and think happy thoughts.

Starting with Republicans working with a foreign power to undermine the election - again - and more that we have yet to hear about. That's why it's imperative that we learn all the facts ASAP!

I bet a lot of people in the Obama administration would help to set things right like they were in 2016. Then Biden could move and tweak things to his liking... We don't have to re invent the wheel. Just fumigant the white house........Even if just symbolic it would piss the tRump off

Trump's transition team either didn't show up for meetings with Obama's team, or, if they did, were contemptuous and dismissive about the info they were given. So there probably isn't much on paper for them to destroy. Just pick up where Obama left off.

Though the Obama team was prepared and waiting. An irresponsible and unprepared start to an administration that knows no respect of norms or laws.

Is it all an anti-tax movement begun with Goldwater '64 snowballed into Reagan magnified by Trump, blended with Fred and Fair Housing 1970s litigation into a hatred of all things government? Because that's what I see.

He's been accused of some of these, but would dial up to 11:

Litterally loot money.

Bug physical offices.

Destroy criminal evidence.

Install sleeper cells in government agencies.

Pardon low lifes en masse.

Hardwire military decisions/actions to the benefit of Russia.

Sell state secrets.

Arrest people so they are tied up for years defending themselves.

One interesting thing Wilkerson said was that trump's departing people wouldn't turn over policy manuals, important messages to foreign countries, etc.

Maher was right on in my opinion when he said, fine we need to scrap all that stuff anyway.
