(93,908 posts)I know this isn't being reported or suggested anywhere. But what if he picked him to attract on-the-fence Republicans? Again, I'm just throwing this out there. I'm not advocating for this. But maybe negotiations with him are taking longer than planned. I suspect that socially he is more to the left.

Then all the speculation and advice and preferences could be caged.
Maybe even a bunch of pictures so we could pick our favorite to display next to our names.
It's a thought. For 2024.

(5,825 posts)There used to be a forum here for that kind of speculation.
Its actually kind of rude and offensive to put it out there that Biden would choose a Republican from Bushs administration. Funny one would get pushback and rude replies, eh?

(25,073 posts)but as this is a thought experiment that nobody has even remotely suggested as a real possibility, I'm not worried that this will actually happen. And just..........why? She did a horrible job as NSA and did not even consider Al-Queda/Bin Laden terrorism to be a concern during the first almost year of the George W. Bush (P)residency. Maybe she is semi-rational by today's Trumpian standards but......no.

(12,011 posts)She's too much of a lightening rod for the 25% of Democrats who went for Bernie or other left-wing candidates in the primary and are already holding their nose to vote for Biden. I personally find her pretty appealing, though I certainly disagree with her on foreign policy and don't really know where she stands on most domestic issues, but I think picking her would give too much ammunition to people on the far left who want to divide the party.

(6,489 posts)Sometimes, you have to look for out of the box solutions. I think there are a lot of just right of center (or clearly right of center) voters who think very highly of her.
While she was part of the Bush debacle, she was the one person who came out of it with her reputation mostly in tact.
Like I said, I'm not advocating for her pick. But why should we assume that she isn't being discussed. I'm going to bet that if she hasn't been discussed that Biden has reached out to get her opinion. Because if nothing else, her endorsement would be great to have.

(71,585 posts)aggressive about my response. She is not nor ever has been on any list. Editing because apparently, this is a serious question...I have only one thing to say. It is fucking unbelievable that any on our side would seriously suggest C. Rice-an unrepentant Republican- for VP...out of the box? give me a break. Joe Biden will pick a qualified Democrat as VP...end of story.
