Kamala Harris' Formal Acceptance, In Her Own Words

Posted by Kamala Harris on Facebook

I am coming to you today with some big news: I’m honored to join Joe Biden in the fight for the soul of our country as the Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee. Joe is a leader who can unify the American people, because he's spent his life fighting for the American people. And as president, he will build an America that lives up to our ideals.

My mom and dad, like so many other immigrants, came to this country for an education. My mother from India and my dad from Jamaica. And the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s brought them together. Some of my earliest memories are from that time: My parents being attacked by police with hoses, fleeing for safety, with me strapped tightly in my stroller.

That spirit of activism is why my mother, Shyamala, would always tell my sister and me, “Don’t just sit around and complain about things. Do something.”

That’s why I became a District Attorney and fought to fix a broken system from within. Why I served as California’s Attorney General. Why I’m proud to represent my state as a U.S. Senator. And it’s why, today, I’m humbled to be joining Joe Biden in the battle to defeat Donald Trump and build a country that lives up to our values of truth, equality, and justice.

I know that winning this race will be tougher than anything I’ve faced before, but I’ve never been more ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work. Donald Trump thinks this country belongs to him. But Joe Biden knows it belongs to all of us. To the people.

And together, the people are going to take it back.

Not only am I so happy that it's Kamala, but...what this says about JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He set aside his ego and picked a formidable woman as his teammate.

Aww...listening to Cory Booker on Ari Melber. He's so happy. Love him, too. Can't wait to see who Joe will pick for his cabinet!

Rumor has it that Trump's gonna drop him for a woman, though I can't image what woman would want to be seen on the same stage with that sexist Nazi.

on Facebook.

When Barack Obama picked Joe Biden as VP in 2008, he hit a home run.

Well, Joe Biden picking Kamala Harris is a grand slam. Kamala is a brilliant and dedicated public servant.

California has been lucky to have her as Senator, and now the nation will be lucky to have her as VP.

Let’s go win!

She's on both the Senate Judiciary and Intel committees, so he could REALLY flip their dynamic of those two committees.

Particularly if we take the Senate. HE could really do some killer work on behalf of the Democratic White House.

Republicans are forced worry about the down ticket right now, and the spectre of Schiff in the Senate should have them quaking in their boots.

But he’s awesome in his current House committee leadership role. I would hate to lose him in that position.

Vice President Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate delivers a dynamic and courageous partnership to our country.
I am thrilled and proud to support the Biden-Harris ticket this November.

Joe is a leader who can unify the American people, because he's spent his life fighting for the American people. And as president, he will build an America that lives up to our ideals. But Joe Biden knows it belongs to all of us.

To me, this seemed more like a presidential campaign speech for Ms. Harris than for accepting the position of Joe Biden's VP. The above three sentences were the only direct references to VP Biden.

Kamala needs to quickly switch gears and realize that she is there to support Joe. We all know her background and qualifications by now. I know they will both work for the American people, but in this mess Joe needs all the support he can get. Her turn will come, but right now she needs to lock into being No. 2 on the ticket.

However you quoted what she said about Joe Biden, and then flipped into saying she needs to "quickly switch gears and realize that she is there to support Joe..."

I'm not sure if you read what I read, but what you yourself quoted was not a campaign speech for her. What you quoted was support for Joe.

Here's to moving forward together.
