he looked like a very defeated old man. He read his script with no inflection and few of his usual ad libs. I thought he looked like he knew he was losing, but I've seen him bounce back almost miraculously before. Two days in a row is unusual.

Your comment had me picturing him with word magnets on the refrigerator, with all his favorite words and phrases - "very powerful", "everyone is saying", "like no one's ever seen" and then arranging them into a speech. It wouldn't take too many magnets, as he has such a small vocabulary.
