Gotta do what we can to save the USPS. I got some Santa Claus ones for my holiday cards

(53,214 posts)I bought stamps several times and then I bought two toy mail trucks for my grandsons. I've encouraged people many times to "Buy stamps". Every little bit helps.

(10,481 posts)Hmm I need to check that out
They have a lot of cool and reasonable gift items. There are some really cute mail carrier costumes for dogs and children (my one grandson wore such a costume a couple years ago for Halloween). They have puzzles, mugs, coasters, pop-up books, and T-shirts! I recently got their summer brochure and they have more now than I remembered.

(53,214 posts)If we could get everyone we know to spend a few dollars, just imagine the difference it would make.

(2,343 posts)I'm going to stop in and buy some myself. I remember when I used to buy them every three or four weeks. Now, a book lasts us several months. We rarely mail anything anymore!
When we list the most essential workers in our community--teachers, nurses, firepersons/EMTs, social workers, etc--we need to start adding postal workers!
I think the Postal Service is something we have always taken for granted and most people don't think of what life would be like without it. This is really serious and the short and long term repercussions are alarming.

(28,258 posts)(The money isn't really earning much interest in a bank savings account.) They're sitting in my safe drawer, giving the USPS operating liquidity until AnusMouth is either GONE (the MUCH-preferred option!!) or I REEEALLLY need the money (which I don't see in the next year or so.) I decided that extra stamps would be small potatoes, so to speak, so I went a little bigger to try to give them some more operating cushion.
Hoping others will do likewise--if enough people do, the USPS could get a bit of a lift, and Cockwomble could get a bigger PITA.

(10,481 posts)I had bills to pay with my stimulus but I was able to manage to scrape out a little bit more to get some stamps for the holidays. If we even have a fucking Postal Service by then
$66 how many books is that? Mine was just a booklet of 20 for $13.

(22,343 posts)if I may say so myself. I needed a transcript from 2018. No credit card so online request wouldn't work. Called the number to order one by phone. Sorry can't provide that service at this time. So I spent an hour by phone again. She's sending a transcript. Confirmed again new address from last year. Then I mentioned to her 'get my payment' keeps saying the same message over and over and over. Hold on a minute. She came back saying your stimulus will be mailed out on the 31st of July. Happy day!
I kept telling myself "patience grasshopper". But I had visions of trouble after hearing so many upsetting stories.
