She is off again. A rant about voting now, she is calling out every fucking republican who is allowing this asshole president to destroy the country.
I have liked her for a very long time. I know some people still hold a grudge against her, but I believe in redemption and second chances.

Mika is one of the few people with national exposure that is willing and able to speak out. Stop attacking the messenger. Support the message. tRump* is working overtime to end the American democracy, and your "fuck her" comments aren't helping. At least she is speaking out. What the fuck are you doing?

We need to be MUCH MORE accepting of those that may not have been on our side of the fence as long as we have. We are in a time of PROFOUND FUCKING CRISIS, we need to be MUCH MORE WELCOMING to EVERYONE that joins the fight, BECAUSE IT'S THEIR FIGHT TOO.

(59,753 posts)Donny Bodybags to the American people and getting him elected. He was a joke until Joe and Mika fluffed him up every day as their special guest star.
What she is doing now is fine. But redemption? She'll need to do a whole lot more. Enough so that she is as instrumental in getting him gone as she was in putting him in there in the first place.
If you think that remembering that is petty bullshit, so be it.
Raster
(21,010 posts)... But when one talks of "redemption," we have to wonder, redemption for what and in whose eyes?

(59,753 posts)that will be worth something.
To do that, she has a lot of work to do and it needs to be a lot more effective than ranting.

(18,486 posts)I'm glad that Mika and Joe are as virulently anti-Tump as they've become.
But there's an arrogance and sanctimony in it. They behave as if they were ALWAYS wary of Trump, held him to account, and tried to warn us. They regularly point to rare instances in 2015 and 2016 when they showed some skepticism of him or asked him a tough question and say "We were saying this from the beginning ..." But they fail to acknowledge their complicity in creating him. They never mention much less apologize for giving him hours of uncritical, open-ended coverage and smearing his opponent mercilessly for alleged wrongs that turned out to be baseless.
So, while it's great that they are calling him out now. But ii won't consider them "redeemed" unless and until they admit they had a hand in creating the mess we're in.

(21,010 posts)... But right now, if -GOD FORBID- Phyllis Schlafly came back from the grave and took up the anti-tRump* banner, I would think about welcoming her with.... eeeeekkkk... open arms.
Again, the need is so great and the cause is so just, I welcome anyone that will help man the barricades. We cannot let tRump* win this because we were blinded -yet again- by our quest for "purity." Let's deal with that later. Right now, we have much bigger fish to fry.
We have the awesome team of Biden/Harris, and now we need to make sure --doing EVERYTHING we possibly can-- to bring this change to our country. And if we don't, frankly, all of our purity and recriminations won't mean diddley-squat.

(7,117 posts)Mika & Joe did little more than every other TV news outlet that took Trump's impromptu phone calls during a live broadcast to let him ramble for 20 min with little pushback against his lies...
...that used a half hour of air time showing an empty lectern just to build anticipation before a Trump rally...
...that took the bait with every outrageous thing he said or did and crowded out all other news stories to cover him...
...that devoted vastly more air time and newspaper ink in covering his campaign than any of his GOP competitors and later even Hillary's.
I seriously doubt J&M had Trump on every day. But if they had him on too often and treated him like a celebrity, then they were no different than any other morning or news show.

(7,117 posts)He was on the premier episode of The Reidout, but a google search for other recent interviews didn't yield much.
No doubt he's not doing the TV circuit as vigorously as Trump did in 2016 partly because of the pandemic and partly because of Joe's campaign strategy to not get in Trump's way while he's digging his own grave.
In the meantime "Morning Joe" has been giving free air time to nearly all new Pro-Biden videos, whether from the Biden camp or The Lincoln Project or vet groups, not as a commercial, but as part of the show as a news topic. And just as important, they editorialize daily in favor of a Biden presidency and against Trump.

(59,753 posts)voice should be silenced. I am of the opinion that she needs to do a whole lot more of what she is doing to make up for what she did in the past.
For some it seems she has made up for what she did. For me, she has done nowhere near enough yet. I hope she rants on.
And wouldn't it be nice if she gave as much free interview time to Joe this year as she gave to Donny Bodybags in 2016?
SergeStorms
(20,672 posts)any voices that have as much volume as Mika's and Joe's is welcome. Our nation is at the verge of completely falling into fascism. The more people who are alerted to this fact, the better. Most Americans aren't as plugged in to the current of politics as we on DU. They have far too many other things to worry about at this point, like eating, getting sick, having a roof over their heads, paying bills. Whatever were Joe and Mika's sins of the past, they're now put aside, if only temporarily for some. Until November 3rd I'm more than willing to put aside any differences with those people, if they're honestly informing my fellow Americans of the treachery and peril we face. My two cents, and have a wonderful weekend.

Mr. President: "Next." (Hell, no! It's been working extremely well.)
Mica's Outrage: He refused to answer the question!
Seriously, America has to wake up to the grave danger from Trump and the Republicans, and they're doing their best. Every morning.
Grudge is the wrong word, Mad. Same as those of one of our own candidates, our actions reveal our inner selves. Smart, responsible people should only forget their role in electing Trump/McConnell and cabal, and thus the kind of choices they're capable of in future, when they're dead, or drooling in a SNF.
Forgiveness is impossible now, but something to work on in decades to come as memories of our dead fade and devastation of nation and lives is repaired.
But, as you indicate, like our former candidate, what they're doing now is extremely valuable. IF we're able to recover from what they've done, it'll only be because they and millions of culpable others have joined us to try to undo the disaster they've brought down on us, and the entire planet.

(43,312 posts)Nah. They are dead weight on this democracy and good governance. If they thought they could help establish an oligarchy, they would.
I grant that while this all might be sincere from media Republicans, it could easily degrade to good-cop/bad-cop Republican games again.
Republicans who have shown bipartisan hostility, animosity and downright subversion of the Constitution have a helluva lot to make up for -- and the Senate Republican side is the very first place to start.
In the long game of U.S. politics, we'll see a temporary feeling of shame.
But the old world view is dug deep, and it won't take long for any show of bipartisan feeling to go away.
Bottom line: trust but verify.
