Fans boo players who take a knee before Dallas vs. Nashville in MLS

https://www.espn.com/soccer/fc-dallas/story/4158666/fans-boo-players-who-take-a-knee-before-dallas-vs-nashville-in-mls

There was a smattering of boos and one fan was removed from the stadium for throwing a water bottle when players from FC Dallas and Nashville SC collectively took a knee during the national anthem before their Major League Soccer game on Wednesday in Frisco, Texas.

Dallas defender Reggie Cannon said he was disgusted by the boos at Toyota Stadium when players and officials kneeled to call attention to racial injustice. He said teammate Ryan Hollingshead turned to him afterward and said he was sorry.

"You can't even have support from your own fans in your own stadium," Cannon said. "It's baffling to me.

"As a team we try to give the best possible product on the field, and these last six months have been absolute hell for us. Absolute hell."

.... doesn't quite mesh with the actual article. When I read the title, I was ready to suggest the players just walk out on all the ungrateful fans. Then I read the first line of the article and thought, why would they walk out just because there were a few assholes in the stands?

I didn't think it was something you made up, and assumed it was taken straight from ESPN. I should have been more clear about that. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Not just in soccer, but in baseball/football/nascar/whatever.

If the fans in the stadium or on TV don't want to see the players protesting, the commissioners and owners just need to tell them the way it is.

"For anyone that doesn't like it, there are plenty of other things on TV, plenty of other merchandise, lots of other things to do- and they should just consider that"
