I hate him.

I'm just bursting with hatred for this man. It's overwhelming, it's pushing me over the edge. I am losing my work focus.

My boss doesn't like how I throw around the word "hate". So, I will try a few synonyms to make it clear. I despise the president. I detest him. I loathe him with every cell of my being. Every day, I hope I'll wake up to the news that he's dead.

An extremely poor response to COVID-19, causing the loss of my cousin.
Having the military gas protesters so he could get a photo op in front of a church that he's never attended, where the pastor doesn't even like him.
And now, sabotaging the post office in an attempt to tilt the election, slowing the mail, slowing bills, slowing medicine.

Hate, loathe, despise, detest.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I figured out how to express what I am feeling. A phrase I can't remember ever using before.
This situation with the mail is fucking with my mind.
The lies, the corruption, the racism, the reversal of ALL of Obama's best policies, the efforts to destroy Obamacare, the placement of conservative judges all over the place... and then in 2020 alone, the mistreatment of the pandemic, the attacks on protesters, and now the mail.
It is fucking with my mind.
To all of you who have offered ideas on how to handle this spiritually, I thank you. I am trying ALL OF IT.
(Of course on Zoom these days.) The purpose of the discussion was to reconcile Trump hate with Buddhist life and come to the understanding that although Trump is a vile person, being angry and hating him takes away from your own peacefulness. Being angry and hateful is bad for you. So try not to be so angry! Some people thought that was a big ask!
So very sorry for your loss of your cousin. Hugs.
In Nichiren Buddhism, we are taught to chant for the happiness of people who are harming us.
I have tried it with other people. It is very, very hard.
But you are right. This is disrupting my inner harmony.
I will rethink this.
Somehow the very thought of trying to offer up a prayer for this man makes me sick to my stomach.
Yes, this is disrupting my life.
The situation with the post office has just put me over the top. The idea that somehow, he would cheat so completely that he would win the November election, it's making me ill.
Not enough people are doing something about it. Not enough people are fighting it. Not enough Republicans are fighting it. I know this is hurting Republicans as well as Democrats.
I think part of what I'm dealing with is an extreme sense of helplessness.
On your enemies or people you have hate or dislike for to get rid of bitterness inside you because it poisons us not him when we hate him.
In the past I have used that to overcome extreme feelings for hubby's ex wife, people who were mean to me, etc. But every time I try with Trump I just can't get myself to wish him blessings. I pray (and I am not religious) that his eyes open to the truth.
Mitch McConnell and a few others come close to how I feel about Trump.
I find myself wishing painful things upon them and I am a peaceful person.
I really thought I hated W, but I didn't know what hate was until Trump. I was taught that it was wrong to hate anyone, but I just can't help it with him. I don't necesarily wish for horrible things to happen to him, but I don't blame anyone who does. I mainly just want him GONE from the White House and from our government. I want his damned foot off of all our necks.
This thing with the USPS is driving me nuts. He and this DeJoy creep (his name should be NoJoy) are the scum of the earth. Right now I feel like I did the night of the 2016 election, like up is down, down is up, and nothing makes any damned sense. I refuse to give up hope, but it's really, really hard.
32. Try detachment
Fri Aug 14, 2020, 03:42 PM
Aug 2020
I know it's hard because he's everywhere. He's hard to escape when you just want to give your psyche a break now and then. In the countdown to the election, as things become more intense, I have been limiting my exposure to political discussions on the regular news/talk channels. I get the NY Times delivered, but now -- at the most -- I just skim through the articles focused on his latest effery. The ongoing news articles about Trump's continuing campaign to ruin the environment were triggers for me. As of late, his efforts to throw a monkey-wrench into the running of the U.S. Postal Service was another. And, of course, the continuing stress of living through a pandemic that is raging out of control in this country. Covid-19 is wretched: there are folks who have lost loved ones; once infected some patients never fully recover -- this beast can gum up your internal organs and make breathing a challenge even after you've been "cured." To top it all off is the fact that Trump has done absolutely nothing to reduce the mortality rate in this country. He is criminally negligent. Every time he stands up in front of the cameras and lies about how great America is doing compared to other countries - - -
But here's the thing. It is possible to emotionally detach from something that is very stressful, but it takes practice. Regular practice. I went through an unbearable, life-threatening situation in my life that I believe I only survived because of the tool of detachment. In this case it was presented to me by the Al-Anon program. To this day I believe that it saved my sanity and my life. In the case of Trump, it can do the same as it can relieve the stress on your health. And right now we really need to be working on reinforcing our immune system and that means working on the stress that undermines it. Also, I cannot say enough about the practice of meditation. Your brain and mind have been running on all cylinders for nearly four years. It needs some down time. Do it.
Here is one of my favorite Trump detachment stories. Many folks may not have the resources to go this extreme, but you get the idea. Detachment can do it for you:
I was using hate to describe how I feel about a co-worker. Whom I do loathe and despise. However, Trump has her beat by 10 million times, so saying I hate her is probably inappropriate so as to reserve the word for those who truly deserve it.
Dried Apple Pies
by Anonymous
I loathe, abhor, detest, despise,
Abominate
dried-apple pies.
I like good bread, I like good meat,
Or anything that's fit to eat;
But of all poor grub beneath the skies,
The poorest is dried apple pies.
Give me the toothache, or sore eyes,
But don't give me dried apple pies.
The farmer takes his gnarliest fruit,
'Tis wormy, bitter, and hard, to boot;
He leaves the hulls to make us cough,
And don't take half the peeling off.
Then on a dirty cord 'tis strung
And in a garret window hung,
And there it serves as roost for flies,
Until it's made up into pies.
Tread on my corns, or tell me lies,
But don't pass me dried-apple pies.
Aug 2020
That's what keeps me from hating him, knowing how horrible it would be to go through life that ignorant, that arrogant, that limited, and that paranoid that other people had spotted it.
I just want him gone. I don't care how any more, he's just got to go.
I want his enablers and associated mobsters in prison where they can't hurt anybody any more.
I want his rotten party to have a real reckoning with the fact that they've devolved into a mob dedicated to the destruction of this country and everybody who lives here.
But him? Once he's gone, I won't care. He can retire to his mink and gilt horror show of a "residence," wherever it might be. I can't think of a worse fate than having to be him and have everything he touches die. I want Putin to refuse his calls. I want him out of the public eye and too radioactive for even tabloid stories since his picture would destroy sales.
Oh, he won't be forgotten, he'll be studied for as long as other tyrants have been studied. We can't forget. We want to avoid the next one.
to take my meds and to realize that he is not in control of himself. I read Mary Trump's book about him and actually came to feel rather sorry him, for the way he was treated during his formative years. I can pity the child, but I also know that many people, born into a world of terror, war, deprivation and worse, rose to great heights and overcame their upbringing. tRUMP never overcame those infant longings which is why he has to punish everyone for not giving him what he needs. There will never, ever be enough. He is an empty, bottomless black hole.
Having a regular happy hour (or two) every day also helps a lot. Staying away from mainstream media and watching old music videos, cooking, canning tomatoes, making pickles, and working in cat rescue also help.
In fact, I don't think there is a word in the English language that quite describes the extent of my loathing for the man. The day he dies will be one of the happiest days of my life.
The only problem is that the word "hate" doesn't adequately describe how I feel. Hate is too tepid a word for me.
I KNOW he is a direly damaged human being. I think of him in the same way I do pedophiles.
They were deeply damaged - through no fault of their own - in childhood. Their damage is not repairable. It takes a village to raise a child, but the village failed cuz there was money/ belief to support it.
GB had Australia. They had a place to toss these societal pariahs. that was 300 years ago.
Here in the US we give them reality shows and the oval office.
It also has a meaning which is related to action and choices
To hate someone in this sense is to be opposed to all that they stand for.
To work to thwart what they are trying to achieve, or to undo their achievements.
To choose the opposite of what they choose.
To work for the opposite of what they work for.
In that meaning, I certainly hate Trump and have no regret or guilt.
I think we can all hate him that way.
I hate bigotry, suffering, torture, misery, starvation, and murder.
I hate various members of the Trump administration, including Donald Trump, Donald Jr, and Eric. I hate Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kayleigh the ninny, Kushner, Ivanka, Miller, Kelly Anne, Bannon, and Pence.
I hate them because of all of the evil that they do, and I don't think hating evil is wrong.
Let them all burn in hell.
you say about the Criminally Deranged Thug, Conman and Cowardly Bunker Bully Brat!
I did not realize - and am thankful never to have realized before - that I was even capable of the level of hatred and loathing that I have for the most despicable, abhorrent and toxic POS of my conscious lifetime.
The only way that I have been able to function at all since Nov 2016 is to avoid like the plague any televised event where he is speaking or only to watch it with the sound muted, to avoid Fox News completely, and only to read about the havoc he causes at a time of my choosing - which keeps the absolute fury at a somewhat lower level.
Of course, DU, good wine, a lovely family, good friends, good books, Netflix and the fact that I am an expat who lives in a beautiful place that isn't bombarded 24/7 with stories about him also help!
Sometimes one literally has to tune out for one's health.
I do a ritual.
I will carefully word a sigil,build an effigy. Than
I get my stuff together for ritual Open ritual space ,call corners and various gods to witness my rage and let my hatred out on an object,pour all the hate I have as that time into it.
Out loud I say what I feel and let the negative be negative. And as negative as it needs to be.
Do it for 20 minutes more or less.
Then I burn the effigy or paper .
Declare it done.
Close the ritual.
Than forget about it and relax /distract.
The hate loses its power in my mind since it was fully expressed.It's carthartic.
Then after a few minutes the hate is gone and I feel better. Also since it's deliberate ritual magick maybe the spell will work on some level.
It contains and separates the hate from everyday life.
Lock him up.
For forty years the republican party has courted the zealots and loons. When Trump's gone, we still have them to deal with. How do we come together when the two sides have such different world views? When I was a kid, politics was something you could disagree on, because both sides still fundamentally agreed with the democratic process. Now one side has thrown the rule book in the trash, & half our fellow citizens don't care as long as their side is the one with a boot on our neck. I can't even talk to right wingers. There is zero common ground anymore. I'm polite to them when I have to interact with them, but I avoid them when at all possible.
87. He inherently repulses me
Sat Aug 15, 2020, 02:20 PM
I don’t “hate”...I’m not sure I can.
I’ve examined how I feel, and that’s it. There is, in him, and his family something antithetical to the experience of being human. All of our history, our joys, our hates, our disasters and our accomplishments. Our qualities good and bad, seem to be missing in him.
He is John Steinbeck’s human monster, the Cathy of our generation. While he attracts some, he also repulses so many more. It can start with hate, because that repulsion is hard to identify in oneself, but it’s like seeing a crowd of people watching an big event slowly unfold, more and more eyes turn toward the event, at first confusion, then awareness then attention.
I don’t listen to his voice, I pay attention to the results of his actions
This the quote from “East of Eden”
I believe there are monsters born in the world to human parents. Some you can see, misshapen and horrible, with huge heads or tiny bodies. . . . And just as there are physical monsters, can there not be mental or psychic monsters born? The face and body may be perfect, but if a twisted gene or a malformed egg can produce physical monsters, may not the same process produce a malformed soul?
