This understates things. Durham's first public move ... has a problem.

Barb McQuade

FBI lawyer charged with altering an email for Page FISA application clearly violated law, but consider what this is and is not. This does not change fact that DOJ IG found Russia investigation was properly opened 11 months BEFORE this conduct occurred.

In other words, this malfeasance was not material in initiating the Russian interference investigation.

"Kevin deeply regrets having altered the email," Clinesmith's lawyer, Justin Shur, said in a statement Friday. "It was never his intent to mislead the court or his colleagues as he believed the information he relayed was accurate. But Kevin understands what he did was wrong and accepts responsibility."

The "he believed the information he relayed was accurate" info is interesting. I know this though...you never change someone's email. The correct way would have been to call the email writer and ask them to make the change and re-send. Otherwise, he should have known there would be multiple copies of the email floating around, some with "not" and some without "not." But, maybe, he tought no one would ever follow up to such detail. Not very smart for someone who was a lawyer.

We all make mistakes. I expect he's a good guy.

But, we've known for quite a while that he altered the email? I just wonder what took so long for him to be charged and plea. It makes me think he is talking...but about who? He's young enough that I'd be singing like a mockingbird if someone to me to forge documents on something so serious.

If shit is going to come out, let's get it out. Dont wait until October.

Although Comey was an absolute fuck up to the core. The ones in charge now are going to turn everyone against the other. It'll be every person for himself. Yates threw Comey under the bus, and who know who Clinesmith has roasted.

Watch McCabe.

The author of the email to confirm whether the email was correct as sent or whether they inadvertently left the "not" out. While it wouldn't alter the criminal nature of altering the email it would help clear up the bigger issue. Or has that obvious question already been asked and answered.
