is nothing less than a HEROIC effort by this administration to cut expenses and stop the hemorrhaging of money caused by an inefficient company. It's making me to hear this shit on our local news.

(36,457 posts)The USPS is a vital national service that benefits both individual citizens and business. That's why we fund it.

(36,457 posts)They had to expend the money for labor before they could earn a profit. UPS is not in business to create jobs for Americans, they are in business to return profit for their shareholders. If they create good paying jobs along the way, well that's good PR & good for the community, but that's not their agenda.
The USPS is not a business, it's an essential service for the nation. That's why we get a say in who manages it and how it's run, whereas shareholders make those decisions for UPS.

(64,993 posts)They obviously believed there was a business niche they could fill.
They found their niche, developed a successful company, and all while USPS existed, for 180 years.
Where's the unfairness?
Your post is not logical!

(90,641 posts)...US Constitution. It was always ALWAYS self-supporting, right up until the GOPers decided it had to be destroyed, and Step 1 was forcing them to fund their retirement system upfront for the next 75 years.
That doesnt seem fair to me.

(6,800 posts)Is that fair ?
A fair assessment/comparison would be if UPS and FEDEX delivered to every address in the US.
Just watch though, if the day ever comes where say FEDEX is the contractor for the mail service, all of it, they will come begging for a subsidy to deliver it to rural and other unprofitable areas of the service area.

(90,641 posts)Before I proceed, let me point out that Patterson Ave is a very busy place. Very.
Okay, so the intro was pretty much blahblablah, then the nice news-lady said that as a cost-saving measure, some of those blue post boxes were being removed from low traffic areas, for instance, Patterson Ave.
Sorry for whatever brief inconvenience you experience, nothing to see here, move along.
And yes, this local station is now owned by Sinclair.

And they should be allowed to electrify the delivery fleet.
