This site has a list of the location of every mailbox in the country - at least where they're supposed to be.
If mailboxes start disappearing in your neighborhood, raise holy hell.

Working with the public people would often come in and say where’s the nearest mail box. I could rattle off 4 or 5 planned on keeping an eye on those plus the ones I use close to home but this is even better.
