Watching live feed online of the Endeavour arrival in Los Angeles:

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Space-Shuttle-Endeavour-Soar-Last-Time-California-170683856.html?live

Probably won't quite be able to personally see it off to the south as it flies past Malibu and over the Getty........damned Santa Monica Mountains will be in the way............sigh.

Mature trees won't last anywhere near as long. And in our flooding and near-hurricane force winds kestrel91316 Sep 2012 #11

I was coming out of the pharmacy and it was flying overhead, with some smaller planes around it. Lots of people were looking at it in the street. It was pretty low in the sky and I was surprised it would be that low for a jet with a space shuttle on top. Even jets coming in for a landing at nearby Long Beach airport are higher. I live in the northern part of Orange County, just south of Long Beach and about 35 miles from LAX.

in winter, we need trees with really strong, deep roots. Also with the drought for months on end every year. You can never achieve that hardiness with mature trees being transplanted. Younger ones will always be hardier.

They aren't going for window dressing. They are going for LONG-TERM community improvements.

So, how else would you have them get the shuttle to the museum?? If you're such a genius??
