If you can't protest in person, please consider emailing the USPS Board of Governors. Tell them to stop DeJoy.

2. I'm considering emailing the offices of companies I pay bills to by mail (utilities, insurance, etc.) with a request to extend the due dates on my bills by say, 5-days to allow for potential mail delays, with a note stating "due to recent Trump administration changes in the Postal Service".
Enough requests like that could result in these companies pressuring Trump to reverse those changes.

(5,640 posts)2. Been emailing everyone I can, senators, congresscritters, companies, etc.
Also sending via twitter as a jpg.
Here is the text of what I am sending if anyone wants some ideas as to what to write.
Dear Sir or Madam (change as required),
Please refer to Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, known as the Postal Clause or the Postal Power, empowers Congress "To establish Post Offices and Post Roads. The Post Office has the constitutional authority to designate mail routes. The Post Office is also empowered to construct or designate post offices with the implied authority to carry, deliver, and regulate the mail of the United States as a whole. The Postal Power also includes the power to designate certain materials as non-mailable, and to pass statutes criminalizing abuses of the postal system (such as mail fraud and armed robbery of post offices)"
Also, refer to, 18 U.S. Code § 1703.Delay or destruction of mail or newspapers. (a)Whoever, being a Postal Service officer or employee, unlawfully secretes, destroys, detains, delays, or opens any letter, postal card, package, bag, or mail entrusted to him or which shall come into his possession, and which was intended to be conveyed by mail, or carried or delivered by any carrier or other employee of the Postal Service, or forwarded through or delivered from any post office or station thereof established by authority of the Postmaster General or the Postal Service, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.
The USPS is in crisis and it has been exacerbated by DeJoy's policies. DeJoy and the board have the power to save the USPS, yet he is out in the OPEN destroying the very service that has served this nation for 200 years. The USPS always delivers the mail on time. It is a service, it is in their name. The USPS is not a business meant to make some person or shareholders profit, it is a service to the people of the United States of America to connect ALL Americans with their fellow citizens and provide timely delivery of the mail. The only reason the USPS has funding issues is due to having to fund pensions for 75 years in advance. This needs to change.
DeJoy's changes and removal and destruction of equipment, postal boxes, cutting of overtime, and a clearly mandated order to slow down the mail, have impacted all citizens, businesses, veterans and people alike. This has come at time during the Covid-19 pandemic and a time when mail in voting is on the table for millions of Americans. Donald Trump has continuously lied about the mail being slow and mail not being delivered and now DeJoy is enabling and enacting changes to make sure Trump's lies come true.
This can not stand. DeJoy's actions are criminal. DeJoy has clearly violated his duty to serve the people of the United States of America in his job as the head of the USPS and a Postal Service officer. DeJoy's actions have slowed the delivery of vital medications for veterans and citizens and those same actions have slowed the delivery of critical payments to banks, lenders, medical facilities, social security recipients, utility companies, all of which has cost Americans millions of dollars in late payments due to fees and fines imposed for missed dates. The slowed delivery of medications has put the lives of citizens in danger and most possibly resulted in health impacts that are yet to be known.
Several State Attorney Generals are now looking into suing the USPS and DeJoy in particular for his continued crimes against the American people. DeJoy's only recourse now is to do the right thing. We the people, demand justice and the restoration of the USPS.
First, STOP all destruction of equipment and removal operations Nationwide.
Second, Reinstate overtime for ALL USPS employees.
Third, Petition Congress for immediate funds to help shore up the infrastructure for the upcoming election.
Fourth, Eliminate the requirement to fund the pensions for 75 years in advance.
Fifth and final, DeJoy must Resign his post immediately after restoring funding, overtime and equipment.
Thank you for your time.
