This is the USPS Board of Governors. These six men have the power to fire Trump-appointee Louis DeJoy. They have the power to rollback Trump's hobbling of the USPS. They have the power to save a free and fair election. I encourage you to contact them and explain why mail-in voting matters to you.

I'm told that a couple of addresses bounced. Could be full mailboxes.

Here's a letter that a friend in Philadelphia has written -

Borrow, rephrase, and/or customize.

Gentlemen,
First of all, thank you for your service with respect to the United States Postal Service. The US postal system, established in 1775, is one of the gems of the nation. Established to connect every household in the US to every business, and each other, the USPS (reestablished in 1971) is a gem in the US governmental system. It is a necessity to the well being of our social, economic, and political life.

We NEED the USPS. Many depend on this service as a primary source of contact with medicine, wages, communication with insurance, taxes, the government in general and each other.
The USPS is provided as a self-supporting, not-for-profit service, looking to the well-being of the entire American nation.

There has been a recent move to reconfigure the USPS as something else. There has been an effort to undermine the USPS and its capabilities as a precursor to an upcoming election, at a time during the covid quarantine, when the service will be of utmost importance to the American populace in their ability to vote, an essential requirement of citizenship.

Please don't let the USPS be undermined at this point in time. To do so seems like a purely partisan effort to diminish the clarity and potential of every American to vote, safely. Perhaps there are changes in store for the service, but NOW IS NOT THE TIME to make those changes.

Please reinstate mail carrying efficiency, mailboxes, and the labor force necessary to deliver the mail ontime. I believe it is of the utmost importance. I will not support any candidate that attempts to interfere or allows the service to be undermined at this crucial and fraught time in our nation's history.

PRESERVE AND RESTORE THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. We require it.

Thanks very much for your time.

4. DeJoy wasn't appointed by Trump, but those 6 men were.

The board appointed DeJoy a few months ago, not Trump. In accordance with Trump's wishes, no doubt, but my point is that you're asking the same (Trump appointed) men who just barely appointed DeJoy to now fire him. I wouldn't be too surprised if they're not very receptive to your suggestion.

Also, I see that the OP text shows up in a Google search on Twitter (and Facebook, etc.), but whenI tried the first link inthe search results, Twitter reports that it was removed. Not sure why.

6. I got it from Quora - And a couple of places on Facebook.

Even if they were appointed by pmurT, getting pushback from the public could well make them think.

7. Sure, maybe they'll develop a conscience.

Writing them can't hurt, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Just wanted to point out that whoever authored that post might not be in complete command of the facts and also that all of those Board members were just recently appointed by Trump and then proceeded to make the questionable (and questioned, see link below) appointment of DeJoy. If the author didn't even know who appointed DeJoy, it makes me question their advice on how to get rid of him.

8. Ty!

Sadly, though, I do not believe they will terminate him and, if they do, they will just appoint another putin puppet.

He is doing EXACTLY what they want him to do. And, I'm sure, they will all profit handsomely.

I will write to them, but I doubt it will do any good.

Chumputin must be reigned in to stop this!

Ty for the information & inspiration to write to them!

10. The "regular" governors are appointed by the president.

Supposedly one per year, with no more than 5 of the 9 from any one political party.

https://about.usps.com/who/leadership/board-governors/

By "regular" I mean appointed and not ex officio.

The president does not nominate, officially at least, a person to the postmaster general position, and the appointment is done entirely by the board of governors. (If this is at odds with anything that's said in the press, the press is simply doing its usual excellent jab, reporting all the mews that's fat to print, with consummate artistry at fact chucking.)

Apparently in Dec. 2016 the last member of the board of governors termed out so the 9 were down to 0. https://www.uspsoig.gov/blog/and-then-there-were-none

8/1/2019 it got up to having 5 regularly appointed members: https://auspl.com/senate-confirms-usps-board-of-governors-appointments/ , https://www.govexec.com/management/2019/08/usps-regains-functioning-governing-board-first-time-five-years/158904/

May 2020 it dipped again, with 4 regular appointees: https://federalnewsnetwork.com/agency-oversight/2020/05/usps-board-of-governors-vice-president-steps-down-but-quorum-remains/

Not sure when it went back up to the 6 regular members on the usps.com website.
