It's worth the risk to vote in person to oust Trump.

No, it's not worth the risk for the economy, but for the election, it is worth the risk to oust Trump. We have no chance whatsoever to suppress the virus and get the economy back on track if Trump is president. The current situation will go from bad to catastrophically worse.

We cannot let this man continue as president. We have seen that there are no checks on his power. We have seen the entire system of checks and balances crumble while his corruption grows ever more bolder. We cannot rely upon the Republican party to stand up to him in any way shape or form. Impeachment and removal won't happen if he's given another 4 years. In fact, we may never get our democracy back as the Republican party has fully embraced Fascism as its model for governing the country.

This is our WWII moment. It's either vote Trump out or join an underground guerrilla resistance movement. If you want to see what that looks like, look at Hong Kong.

That's wake county NC.

They have early voting in one central place and the line is usually an hour or so.

However "day of" voting i can walk in without a line.

That's because day of voting has voting locations in every neighborhood, vs early voting where it is one large location for the entire county.

OH only allows one early voting location per county, regardless of the size of the county. So in a small county, early voting might be quick and painless, while in a large county, it's crowded including long lines. So it's not going to be an option for me during a pandemic.

Any information the had on their voters? I’m sure they wanted to know who voted in which parties primary.

Well, it looks like they got most of what the wanted according to Wikipedia:

On January 3, 2018, the commission was disbanded by Trump, with a statement from the White House blaming many states' refusal to turn over information as well as legal disputes.[13][14] At that time Trump asked that the investigation be transferred to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which already holds much of the requested state voter data and oversees immigration records.[15] The acting DHS press secretary said that Kobach would not be advising or working with DHS, and the White House said it would destroy all the state voter data collected by the Commission.

And find and use the drop boxes. No drop boxes then put in mail no later than October 15th and that means put in the request for absentee ballot no later than October 1st. Be sure to read the instructions very carefully and to do everything in the manner described. Leave no margin of error.

Should none of that work out then in person voting becomes necessary and I would do that. Wear a face mask and attempt to somewhat social distance - maybe 3-4 feet instead of 6 feet. Also put a few sheets of disinfectant wipes in a zip lock bag because at the polling place the equipment won't all be wiped down after each usage so you will need to wipe down you hands as soon as your ballot has been deposited. By all means, safety first.

If people mail their ballots (correctly signed and witessed, plus sufficient postage for first class) EARLY, it'll be OK.

In 2016 I was shocked, and cried the entire day after the election. I really had no idea he'd win (listening to all the polls). Trump is trying every trick he can think of, and I'm afraid it'll work. I even think he'll go on for a third term, since he knows he needs to die in office or face jail in NY. Sorry to be a downer.

But I value my life more than anything. If I have a binary choice of dying so that I could vote in person or staying away from the polls and living I would choose life and stay away. Sorry.

But my greatest hope is that I can vote by mail. We have got to find a way to prevent trump from messing with the Postal Service.

78. I guess the solution is then send your ballot back in as soon as you get it.

If you get it. Some states also have drop off boxes which if you can get to them is a way to avoid USPS in sending your filled ballot back.

Research underground resistance to Nazi rule as a reference. That's what our future will be like if we do not vote now.

Absolutely ridiculous claim. Poster is saying they want to vote by mail, which until now has always been claimed as a great idea on this very site.
I've yet to see any evidence voting in person is going to go smoothly during a pandemic.
Trump likely got all kind of fun stuff planned for election day too.
I've heard he plans to send observers. Also, if some bozo shows up without mask, he or she has to be allowed to vote.
The whole election day might be one disruption after another.

And yes, I intend to vote by mail as soon as I can. I am just hoping that Trump cannot sabotage the Postal Service so that my mail in ballot doesn't arrive in time and does not get counted.

I haven't canceled it yet But I did request the form from the elections office. If things don't turn around right away I WILL go to the polling place to cast my vote against all republicans

At least in my state. Since I requested, I can't vote by regular ballot anymore. It might be different in other states.

You propose a good solution, but it's not enough because tRump and the GOP are openly cheating and dismantling our democracy: Purging Democrats from the voter rolls, reducing early vote days and times, closing and switching voting locations, sabotaging the USPS, adding spoilers to the ballot, etc.

If we proceed into an unfree and unfair election, carefully tiptoeing around the known obstacles in naive attempt to work around their cheating, it won't just be trump who gets another 4 years, but we'll lose the House and any hope of holding trump accountable through normal, peaceful means.

House Democrats need to be throwing the kitchen sink right now, while we still have the ability to do so. And to the chronic apologists: it's not about whether they think they'll be successful or not. It's about upholding the law and raising awareness. We always have to do our part, regardless of the timing or how our opponents respond.

It's a pandemic. Poll workers tend to be elderly. If they do not show up, polling places might be closed or merged-more crowds.
If some bozo shows up without a mask, they still have to let him or her to vote. So, whole lot of distractions.
In some large counties, election day voting results in huge lines and long waits-who is to say everybody is willing or able to wait hours.

what this means is that the candidate who has a greater number of passionate voters is the one who is going to win.
Hopefully that means Biden wins, but there sure seem to be a lot of passionate covidiots out there.

with the local democratic headquarters to offer to drive people to early voting, and I'm going to buy extra masks and sani-wipes to make sure our trip to and from the voting booth is safe for everyone.

Almost every state has early voting. If we all volunteer to help people get there, and encourage those who can get there on their own, to vote early, then we should be able to get the volume we're going to need to defeat russia.
