With a mail-in ballot, there is a paper record. Not only is there a signature required, there is a traceable barcode, also.
Anyone with a criminal mind can always find ways to trick the system if they are so inclined. But, past records show there has been very little fraud with the mail-in system. When there is fraud, it is much easier to track and locate.
Donald Trump wants the people to believe that it is OK if he votes by mail but it is not OK for you to vote by mail? The fact of the matter is, if it is good enough for Donald Trump, it is good enough for you and me.

Unless the whole cabal that was put in charge of the Post Office last week is removed and the processing capabilities are restored, which is unlikely, I will be voting in person.

(36,457 posts)The system has been very well thought out, including an option to sign up for text messages that alert you when your ballot was mailed out by the Elections Division & again when they have received it back. However, you lose a guarantee of privacy of the ballot that we get with in-precinct voting. For example, a bully in a household could gather & vote the entire house's ballots, or a voter could choose to sell their vote.
