4. This kind of talk just makes me sad

This entire election is predicated on one thing: character. The contrast between despicable, amoral, no empathy, chaotic character and the kind of upstanding, selfless, moral, orderly, and empathetic character our current candidate possesses.

And we have folks here saying we need to be more like the low-life character. Given the stakes in this election, that is the surest way to lose.

I’m really ashamed that that eloquent, sophisticated speech was lost on many.

6. I didn't really explain where I was going with this

I don’t really mean that we ditch that message.

I was trying to be metaphoric. My real point is that Michelle Obama’s speech was powerful and (to me) delivered a real gut punch to Trump and Trumpism, and gut punches tend not to be the “high road.”

7. She explained that going high doesn't mean

that we don’t use our voices when we know things are wrong. But it still means we do that in ways that are neither underhanded nor destructive.

I just don’t want to become like them. Tonight was about unity, and creating unity.
