(18,402 posts)Here is a chart of when each state can begin to verify signatures and/or count ballots. It varies widely. Even in states where counting can begin early, as in California it has typically taken a long time. (For this yearss primary it took a full month after Election Day.)
That will give Trump a long long time to call foul.
Heres the state by state rundown. Many states will be doing this on a mass basis for the first time, so it could be arduous.

(18,402 posts)I will have to go hide in a bunker. If we thought 2000 was a nightmare (which it was), this is going to be the ninth circle of hell. I know, it is what it is, but I am going to try to bank my vote at an early in-person polling place, if the gods permit.

(11,985 posts)i will take my absentee ballot to the election commission myself
hand counting paper ballots does not have to take weeks at all...especially for one race
Colorado has been doing all paper absentee ballots for a decade i don't remember having to wait on them and they hand count

(18,402 posts)We usually have more than 50.
It took California more than 3 weeks to count the ballots for the primary.

(11,985 posts)they wouldn't have to wait for all the races to be counted to announce pres/vp results
doesn't california put the ballots thru a machine? that actually takes longer and can miss the intent of the voter
for example gore "lost" florida according to the machine count but when newspapers went back to count the votes they found there were 275,000 overvotes, about 2/3s of those overvotes were for gore..... votes where it was punched next to gores name and then gore was written in on the write in candidate line...obviously the voters intent was gore but since they had done it "wrong" their vote didn't count
just think what a difference it would of made if we had hand counted the entire state and used the standard of voters intent
no w. bush,no iraq war maybe even no 9-11

Then I told him to make sure he votes!

We will run his ass out if he refuses to leave but we know he wont refuse and his coward ass will be gone while tweeting about how everything was unfair to him.

(5,060 posts)He was always going to create chaos by not accepting the result. Hell, even when he won the EV, he still shouted rigged for losing popular votes. He always did what Russia wanted the most, create chaos in the US.
Unfortunately for us, he is now president and have a much bigger microphone to do all his shouting and kicking. I just hope the result won't be close so reasonable people will ignore his crying and whining. If the result is remotely close, we will see months of chaos as he will fight the result every step of the way.
Lock him up.
(10,084 posts)After they vote, it's over.
No matter how loud the toddler-in-chief will whine, after the 538 electors cast their vote, there is nothing he can do.
Nothing.
Then PROSECUTION TIME!
