to reside in the White House in my lifetime. I was in a Starbucks in Manhattan when he walked in. He took the time to talk to everyone, sign autographs and take pictures. He had no reason to be so gracious as he was out of office.

I don't think there has been a president who understood policy better than Bill. He was forced into some compromises that he probably didn't want to make. But being a policy driven president, he always had his eye on the long road gains/advantages.
His administration underestimated the hate the Republicans would respond with early on--which derailed his attempt at overhauling health care. I have to think that in his quiet moments he wishes he had that one back.
