(60,450 posts)I knew her for several years even before she was shot. The wound may have impaired her physically, but not in spirit. When I first saw her after she was shot, I was scared she might not recognize me, but she saw me from across the room and reached out and waited for me to come over and give her a hug. Same old wonderful Gabby.

Her talk was stunning, and what I'll never forget is her closing - "on January 20, I want to say just two words, MADAM PRESIDENT!"
I'll never forget that moment. I truly hope that Mark Kelly defeats Martha McSally BIG TIME!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
