It was the calm confidence of Obama's speech that probably rattled Trump the most.

My mind went back to the White House Correspondents Dinner and Trump seething as Obama rattled off Apprentice jokes...

...the way you send Trump over the edge is with cool, calm, measured words...he's always looking for a street fight, he always wants to "respond" and "seek revenge" for something he can turn into a controversy.

My take-away from the DNC across all of the nights is that all involved know who and what Trump is, but it was all presented with a very measured, factual assessment of his failures. Kamala Harris' "I know a predator when I see one" comment rang so true, because that's exactly what Trump is...how can you argue with what's been played out in front of your own eyes and ears?

That's what impressed me the most...the cool, relaxed confidence...from President Obama and others. There's a lot we could be yelling about. We have. And I assume that when Chachi takes the podium at the RNC, he'll be more emotional. Kid Rock will be an assclown, as will the My Pillow Guy, and probably the smirking MAGA Hat guy as well, but no one in their "all star lineup" will hold a candle to what happened this week.

I hope it inspired a sufficient number of people to VOTE. I don't know how much more motivation people need at this point, but obviously, we need to KEEP motivating them right up to election day. This went a long way in that effort.

But really who gives a fuck about Trump. President Barack Obama spoke to the world for all of us and it's clear what we each need to do. Let's go!

What CAN he say about sitting next to Trump in the Oval Office, knowing Trump probably wouldn't take any of his advice, but reluctantly giving him the benefit of doubt that he would grow into the job, and seeing what he's seeing now?

It was definitely a "the gloves are off" speech, but the tone of it...suppressed emotions or not...is what impressed me most.

I’ve never seen his jaw clench so much and he did it after almost every sentence.

I recognized it immediately because I do the same thing when I’m angry but trying to maintain composure.

I hate that President Obama had to do this. He is such a decent man. But it had to be said. Sigh.

I was kind of spellbound by it, simply because it's something you don't usually see from him. That is part of what made it so effective. It reminded me of him talking about Sandy Hook.

and apparently somewhere deep inside that fat-choked cranium, MF45 knows he is completely lacking. In class along with everything else. He'll never measure up, and it eats at him.

President Obama reached down into the depth of soul with that one. His calm determination yet urgency was felt to the core of my being. It really was that effective. This is a decent man. It is no wonder it would rattle someone who is rotten inside and out, like throwing holy water on a devil.

As distressed as all of us have been, it must be absolute agony for the Obamas to watch the deliberate and gleeful trashing of all they worked so hard to accomplish.
